Car will not be a daily driver for me. It will replace my 07 GT that has about 14,000 miles on it after 4.5 years. I just drive it for fun on weekends and Fridays to work and stuff.

One can only sell something for what another is willing to pay for it. Don't buy the car at a ridiculous inflated price and the dealerships won't sell it for an over inflated price.

Just like back in 2010 when chevy dealerships were charging 3 to 4000 dollars over msrp for the new camaro. As long as some buyer out there is willing to pay the over inflated prices then the dealerships are gonna sock it to the customers
What you said is all true, supply and demand. I just couldn't stomach paying that large a markup no matter how much I wanted the car.

Move your dealership closer to Florida. If I go for the GT500 instead of a GT, I will need to trade in the bmw and L, or get my ducks in a row and sell outright. I contacted many dealers in 07, and trying to get msrp in writing was very difficult.

I just learned of the 2013's last week need to decide what I am doing.

Dtronic,

Good deal to sticking to your guns. I hope all consumers who are thinking of buying the 13 Gt500 let Ford know that we the consumer will not be raped and price gouched for it. Consumers need to take a stand and let Ford no there loyal customers will not be taken advantage of and we will not pay over the MSRP for the car. If people refuse to pay it, then dealerships won't sell it for over MSRP

I'm not. I'm finished losing money on cars for a while. If I feel like I need more out of the '11, I'll add a Whipple, KB, TVS, etc.

But then again, I said the same thing about my 08 when the '11s came out.

I don't care what the Gt500 sells for I'll be keeping my 2011 for the next 15 years as long as the car does not get wrecked and totaled. Heck, I couldn't convince myself to spend the 7k more for the 5.0, I sure ain't convincing myself to spend 60k. That's sweet that the car can do 200 mph but living in the Baltimore metro area there is no where I can drive 200 mph. I really haven't figured out exactly what the point of creating a street legal car that goes 200 mph. NASCAR yes, I 95, no.

I will be aiming for a nice 08-09 gt500 as soon as the prices come down, you know the one with the better body , 500hp is more than enough for me as I will never install a rollbar in any car I own.

there's nothing more compelling than a firm stance against safety. like lots of guys I see at the track who'd never molest a nice street car (by putting safety equipment in it). they are also, usually, the guys who thing that professional training (like classes, or books, or DVD's) are too expensive.

when the price of an 08-09 goes down, you can be pretty sure it's because of the long term prospects of value. they'll never be worth much because they're short cuts...cheap excuses for performance cars. I'm betting that the '13 will be the real thing and keep a meaningful % of it's original cost.

Its funny to hear that the 2013 will be the real thing because no doubt in 2019 they will say the 19 will be the real thing and the 13 had short cuts. I say hold out for the 2020 Gt500, im sure it will have 1000 hp and the 13 wont be $hit. Of course you could wait for the 2025 stang, that put out 1300 hp. Where does it ever stop.

I don't want to get a roll bar because I may have people in my car not because I am a crazy reckless young man.
That being said, I don't see or feel a need to have more than 500hp as my disposal. (no self confidence issues)

On to the second comment, I don't buy cars to resell them in the future, I don't think of them as special unique collector cars, I drive them till the wheels fall off and then I drive on the rotors.
I'll bet that you will say "the real thing" about any new gt500, what about the 2020, will that be the real thing? or how about the 2032? see what I mean?
lucky I don't have a problem when I buy a car I enjoy the hell out of it and I don't but it away in a garage to save it for someone else.
08-09 gt500 would be perfect for me
Sound like you need to prove something to someone o.0 good luck with that.

I thought we were talking about the cars. My comments were about the car, not me. I'm not superior, nor do I have something to prove. I think the '13 will be superior and be a landmark car for a long time to come. I intend to buy it and keep it for a long time.

I agree about not wanting to buy the GT500 as an investment. I say Ford should produce as many 2013 GT500 Mustangs as they can sell. The more GT500s they sell, the more likely the aftermarket would be willing to make parts for them. If they produced more GT500s, maybe the parts suppliers would give Ford better price breaks on their parts and allow Ford to drop the price of the GT500.

I like to find scenarios where you can both enjoy the heck out of a car and know that you're not paying an arm and a leg in the process. that way, if circumstances changed and you wanted to / had to sell...it's not so bad. the 13 looks like a car where you can have your cake and eat it too.

Agreed, If the 13 is all its cracked up to be, I think it will be one to remember in the future.

But if I go for a 500, I'll still drive it I stole it

If i had the money i would definitely be picking one up. Black with red stripes or white with black. Or Kona (or sonic) blue, i need to see the colors/stripe colors available to make that decision. Performance pack, elec package, and thats about it. Oh and the recaro's are a must!

Ill probably wait until 2014-15 to even think about getting one though, i want to see what Ford has in store for the next generation of IRS global mustangs

Question

For those who would like to buy a 2013 GT500 but cannot for whatever reason, what would you put for options on a GT500 to make it your ideal GT500 ? I know I want a 2013 GT500, but have not decided how to option it out. I want the PP package. What else should I get for options ? Is the electronics pakage necessary ?
