If you wish I could also drive through memory lane with the Bullitt and its royalty site. Those were another bunch of winners.
The only true boss around here is SVT and its Ford engineers. That CS gets royalties for every GT500 built is a mute point and a deserving one since no other credit can be claimed on his behalf for its design, engineering, manufactuting, or performance. It is exclusively SVT.
I would agree though he is a boss... the boss of the aftermarket backbenchers.

I've come close to purchasing a 2012 GT500 but it what has always bugged me about the model is that CS had nothing of note to do with the development of it. The GT500 is basically a tribute car. I don't mean any disrespect to those who own one, they are fantastic looking and performing cars. But for me, I would rather the GT500 not have Shelby's name in it as it's a little false. They should have called it something else.
What's wrong with you people!?
I get so sick of this crap. Love him or hate him Shelby is a Legend and his name, and the cars with his name on them, will be around long after we're all pushing up daisies.
I suppose that bothers some people so they've just got to get their little digs in, as though their opinion(s) carry any weight to them. PATHETIC!
The "KR" was built at Shelby in Vegas, so he's got a lot more than just his name involved with the GT500.
And even if he didn't it's not much different than Parnelli Jones and the current Boss 302. He had nothing to do with the development of the car, but that didn't stop those who did develop it to seek Jones' approval. It mean't a lot to them that he loved the new Boss.
Anyway, there is a Steed for every Need and while you might not love them all there really is no need to hate on what others might love or enjoy.

ADMs tick me off but realistically the SVT Cobra never made dealers the kind of money the GT500 ever did. Now GT500s are fairly attainable I think as long as it has 550+HP you can call it whatever you want and it should sell well...

Approval from Parnelli? Purely for marketing imo. He's not paid royalties and his name is nowhere on the car. If it were that would be equally as lame imo.
Whatever he or his shop lays hands on imo has every reason to have his name on it and is irrelevant in the debate of the legitimacy of the most recent factory GT500's. If any of us were to be in the position of collecting fat checks from Ford for basically doing not a lot would do the same as CS. They feel the car sells better with his name on it and pay him hansomely, it doesn't mean any of us have to accept it. Actually I think its kinda lame because his name on the car is of zero substance to me and lacks legitimacy, even though the car looks badass, so you could say I'm conflicted. I may still buy one yet depending on how the '13 B302 looks like with the new colors and options. If I do buy a GT500 it certainly won't be for his name on the trunk.

It's embarrassing how some of you guys go on.
NO ONE gives a F*** what you think. Opinions from nobodies and those with some personal axe to grind are worthless.
Man, and they said people in the Boss subforum had a short fuse

The "KR" is an after-market add-on package to the factory built GT500. I believe they were talking about the factory built GT500 no longer needing Carrol Shelby's name on it. I agree. Go ahead and add his name to the "KR" and you'll get no beef from me about it. Have his name all over the GT350... again, it's built in his facility. I am a huge fan of his but really...since the stock GT500 is not built in his facility why have his name on it any longer?
By the way.... the dollars he charges are ridiculous and nothing but greed. $26000 for a KR hood...please.

If you want to sling mud at least stay current so you don't look foolish.
I don't have a short fuse. I just find it pathetic that the SAME guys keep bleeting and braying the same crap. To what end? It's just *****ing for the sake of *****ing and of course it's done to try and drag down those happy with their cars to the same level of unhappiness that these sad souls live with every day.
If you don't like Shelby or the Shelby name on the GT500 then don't buy his products or don't buy the car.
But to moan about this stuff YEAR AFTER YEAR borders on insanity.
