Summer setup: RE11 v Nitto555??
Hi all,
I could really use some advice. I have a 2012 GT with brembos and I am looking for recommendations on a summer set up (already have a winter setup with conti DWS, which by the way are awesome). Simple choices here:
18 or 19 inch, (19 is OEM)
square or staggered setup (9 or 10" all around; or 9 F, 10R)
Bridgestone RE11 or Nitto555
Not to difficult huh? Some facts, this is my daily driver although I only drive 15 miles daily and most highway driving will to and from the track. I expect to do 5 or 6 track or autoX events this year.
I heard that the 555 are terrible in the rain but they much cheaper than the RE11, which I would get if they weren't so expensive (and might anyway if the 555 don't hold up.
Please help if you have an opinion! Greatly appreciated!

The 555R is a rear-only tire. It is a true drag radial, less aggressive than the NT05 that tboneking runs but more so than the 555. I will assume you're talking about the 555's as a result. I run them on the front and they are fine. You will be hard pressed to find a top-performing tire in terms of traction that still puts up good wet numbers. It's a compromise. You need to decide if you want a little more traction while keeping a decent wet performance, or if you want a lot more traction and are ok with having to be careful in the rain.

Thanks. The track I'm referring to is a road track not drag strip. The RE11's got great reviews on tire rack; wet and dry. I am tempted to just replace the OEM Pirellis (which i thought were terrible) with the RE11 on a square, 19" setup. They will also lower the car 0.5" as they only come as 255/35's for a 19x9 rim.
