A bit of old news, but it's fun as hell driving a car that can blow the doors off of 99% of everything on the road.

 

The quickest rwd car there by far. I think awd is cheating in a drag race anyway, just my opinion though

I have my doubts that the GT500 would have done better than its 4th place finish with AWD, nor would the others have finished any less than what they did if they were RWD only. Weight issues alone would likely offset any benefits to the extent that the cars beat each other up.

Of course, there's only one way to settle that, and that is... make an AWD GT500, and gimp the other three to RWD only.

/I'm impressed it got 4th... now make them lap a track and see where that lands it...

 

I stand corrected, i think the mclaren is also rwd. So that makes the gt500 the second quickest rwd car there.

The only reason i think awd is cheating in a drag race is because a drag race especially the 1/4 or 1/8 are all about the launch. If you have a good 60ft time you will have a decent ET. Awd cars have a serious advantage in that respect.

In fact the gt500 has launch control but that still only gives it 0-60 in 3.5 seconds in perfect conditions. The aventador and gtr will beat that by at least a half second. If you look at the gtr's ET compared with the GT500 the gt500 would win without the gtr's awd advantage. To me there is no skill required (or very little) to drive the gtr fast in a 1/4 mile. The gt500 or any orher rwd car there is skill required to post good times. Thats why i think its cheating. Cheating may not be the right word here, but anyway you look at it its not a fair competition
