Progammable Shift Indicator?

So I'm reading my shiney new 2011 Mustang booklet and on page 10 - the one with the hot Black Shelby... it shows "Progammable Shift Indicator" as one of the bullets.

This isn't like a built in shift light is it? Wondering if any 2010 guys have the same thing?

Well I didn't get any of those either. But since you said that, I did some more digging and found this off-site.

Performance Shift Indicator:

The GT500 is equipped with a programmable performance shift indicator. When activated, this feature provides a visual (SHIFTLAMP) and/or audible (SHIFTTONE) cue to shift to the next highest gear at an engine RPM set by the driver.

The SHIFTPOINT can be adjusted from 1,500-6,000 rpm at 100 rpm intervals

SHIFTLAMP and SHIFTTONE can be used separately, together, or turned off completely.

The SHIFTLAMP feature uses the SVT logo on the tachometer to notify the driver when the desired shiftpoint is reached. With the SHIFTLAMP feature turned off the SVT logo is backlit in red during normal driving conditions. When SHIFTLAMP feature is turned on the red backlighting is turned off and the SVT logo will illuminate bright Orange when the desired shift point is reached.

I guess it's one RPM setting across all shifts... Nicer than nothing. I wonder how accurate it is? Anyone ever try to use it? Is it still worth dropping in A-pillar gauges with an autometer or raptor?

Also found this too, good to know if the car has no "go."

Alternate Calibration:

The Shelby GT500 power train control module (PCM) is programmed with a temporary strategy that limits supercharger boost and engine speed to 4,000 rpm for the first 5 consecutive miles of vehicles operation or 50 engine start/warmup cycles. This feature is enabled prior to shipment. If neither of these conditions are met prior to customer delivery, full power will not be available.

I haven't been able to find more info on this so hoping someone with a GT500 can answer this -

Anyone use or tried the built in Shift Indicator? How accurate is it? I guess it's one RPM setting across all shifts, correct? Is it worth it or am I beeter dropping in A-pillar gauges with an autometer or raptor?

As far as accuracy???????? That said, your better off with an aftermarket shift light in your line of sight. Its handy, but divides your focus a bit, the GT500 also comes with the option of using a shift tone as well.

I have a 2010 Shelby and I use the shift indicator. The shift light is not all that helpful especially during the day as you cannot see it unless you are looking directly at the center of the tachometer and not at what rpm you are at. It is a little better at night. The shift tone is what I listen for and I currently have it set at 5500 rpm and it works well as long as you don't have the radio up to loud..... or a helmet on at the drag strip....

Well, that about sums it up... A-pillar gauges are in my future! Helmet at the track is pretty much why I'm asking... lol
