Ordered 2013 GT500: Our Wonderful & Frustrating Journey
The car looks great! That's quite a journey you have had there up to this point, so the satisfaction of *finally* getting the car must be a great feeling! Pity you had to wait all that time until winter is setting in for such as nice convertible. Not sure where you are geographically, but hopefully you get some top-down weather!
I feel (almost) guilty at getting mine so quickly (less than 24 hours!) but it was pure chance I came across one where the buyer had failed to follow through when the car was delivered to the dealer and the spec was the exact one I was looking for. I was able to write a holding deposit check on the spot (at 5pm on a Tuesday) to seize the opportunity, did the deal the next morning and drove mine off the lot at about 2pm on the Wednesday!
BTW, Post us a pic of those short stripes on the back - have you seen some comparison ones? If it's a production screw up, they should redo.

It must feel great to drive it and feel the power of that engine. Just imagine how great it is going to be next spring when you can drive with the top down every day. It got up to 72 here today. Did you cruise around with the top down yet?
What a trophy. Every man should be so lucky. Live like there's no tomorrow.
Thanks
Here's the back edge of the hood.

Here's the trunk. You can see that the tape for the spoiler would never fit the entire spoiler surface. Whatta cheeez bag!

At the bottom of the rear, the tape doesn't go all the way to the edge. Typical Ford quality.

Spent 4 hours today washing, clay bar & waxing the car for the first time. I can't wait to get some pictures in the daytime tomorrow.
It was a good chance to get a good look at the entire car. Typical Ford quality is disappointing. Inconsistent panel gaps. Trunk doesn't sit flush on both sides. Neither the front nor the rear bumper line up properly. And I won't even mention the ever-present problem of the white paint not matching from metal to plastic.
All in all, it's just another Mustang. I didn't expect it to be any more than it is. It's not a Mercedes by any means. Just another Mustang. A really fast, loud angry Mustang though!

I wanted to order my white car with black stripes and OTT delete, but it wasn't allowed. So I decided to go with the white with black stripes and see if I could live with the OTT stripes. I will remove them if don't like them.
At least you have the option, go with your heart.
BTW: Excellent pictures of the stripes, I haven't seen any other pictures that showed as much detail. Thanks for posting them.

A 2012 vert would work for us. We're just looking for a cruising car, not a track car. That's why we opted for the rag-top and no performance package. Seems kinda silly getting a wobbly ole convertible & paying extra for the performance suspension just for driving around town.
I almost cancelled my order and bought a 2012 vert. I like the wheels on those better than the ones on the 2013. At least they're the same diameter & there are more tire options to choose from.
On second thought, I really do like the LED tail lights & the darker blue stripes on the 2013. I think we'll keep our 2013 order live for now.

If you do come across a really good trustworthy shop that can do a professional painted stripe job, post it here. By the way, if you pull the stripes off, that probably means pulling off some of the Shelby letters on the trunk - presumably a hair dryer would loosen the 3m tape and they come off - or are the retained from the inside of the trunk? Have not looked. You'll need a source of 3M tape to stick em back on and before anything, I'd draw up a template with the original letters in place so you can affix them back in the exact position.
Not to divert to another forum, but there are several threads in the Team Shelby one with great tips on removing/reapplying the S-H-E-L-B-Y lettering. Check out member TTSaleen's thread with some nice pics. For sure, you need to have the template to assure the spacing is spot on.

When we picked up our car, the cover was not available. We did pick it up a week later.
I've emailed the dealership about getting as much build information regarding our car as possible. I've seen certificates regarding the engine build & striping certificates. I'd like as much documentation to go along with our car as possible.
But alas, surprise surprise, it's been almost a week and the dealer has not bothered to respond to my request. I sent another email requesting this information. We'll see if I hear back from him.
The dealership sent me a customer satisfaction survey. I'll wait to see if I get any response from the dealer before I fill it out.

FYI they do not wrap striping around edges because it has a high tendency to lift. Truly professional stripe installers will tell you this.
And the front bumpers are two sets of stripes overlapping just below the transition from horizontal to vertical. You can clearly see this on a sunny day.

What you say has some merit. But if you look at the trunk pictures, you'll see that they wrapped some of the edges but not all of them. Just more typical Ford "Quality."
