He will change the order with a deposit, and give me the purchase order. Does a purchase order mean that the car is about to be built? Best of all, he is selling at x-plan.
Well that's going to put you at about $56K msrp now, and that combo is something easier to find. What is the x-plan price going to be with those options? Because I'd say you can find that combo in an '11 that's still out there and buy it cheaper without x-plan and without waiting. Just a thought.

Base car with stripe delete and Navigation is $51,835 MSRP. X-plan works out to be $47,539.66. New Hampshire title transfer fee of $25, and dealer administration fee of $75, gets me out the door at $47,639.66. No sales tax! I'm going to lease. In 3 years if I have to have the latest and greatest Mustang, I can walk away from the Shelby. Or I can keep it as a buyout at the end of the lease. In the end, it's cheaper to lease a 2012 than a 2011 due to a higher residual value. I'm looking at $554 per month with no money down, or $490 per month with $2000 down on a 39 month lease.

Sorry, I misread what you meant. I thought you were going for the car with the SVT, but stripe delete, that's where I came up with the 56K (msrp on mine was $55,705 with SVT, EP, and cover and the SVT went up $500 for '12). Didn't realize you were talking about getting rid of the SVT altogether.

Living in New England, I can't afford to go with SVT if I want to use the car for 3 seasons. From what I've read, base tires will stretch the driving season out a lot further than with the summer only tires. So if that what it takes to get my dream car, I'll have to pass on SVT.

Believe me, I'm not complaining!

I've never been to a dealer that leased Shelby's and no sales tax. WTH

I can understand that completely, everybody has different situations. I'm in the South and mine is just a weekend toy, so that wasn't even a concern for me. Not to mention the wheels in conjunction with the color combo was just too much for me to resist when I first saw it.

I've had two leases in my lifetime and both had sales tax added to the car payments.

New Hampshire has no sales or income tax. The dealer is not leasing the car, the lease is through LeaseCompare.com

Hey, just to chime in here.

I wouldn't get it without the SVT package even if I had to change the tires, but your call.

The Boss forums have ludicrous amounts of info on what constitutes a real car, lol. Basically, the Dealer can show you a vehicle order confirmation once they've ordered it how you want. Then the almighty Ford creates a DORA that basically says, "yeah, we got your order". But, your car isn't steel on an assembly line until it has a VIN#. However, after it has a VIN# your dealer can't change the options, so they most likely want a deposit from you to give them assurance that ordering the car like you want and not how they want(i.e. how they think they can sell it best) isn't going to bite them in the rear. The deposit doesn't mean diddly on your end when push comes to shove. The car isn't yours until you take "delivery". Up until then you can always get your deposit back, but if they're willing to work X-plan with you and order it how you want they're not likely to be the type of dealership to screw you over.

References: Sold/Leased Fords for a few years to include A,X, and D plan. My own GM didn't want to order a GT for me on D plan, let alone the new(at the time) 2003 Cobra.

And a VIN doesn't mean it will be built soon

Ordered mine on X-plan yesterday with a $1,000 deposit. 2012 GT500, Black with Tape Stripe Delete, Navigation and Glass Roof. MSRP is $53,830, X-plan is $49,368.72 out the door with no sales tax in my state. A 39 month lease with $2000 down will be $540 per month, with 12,000 mile allowance per year. Dealer has changed his existing order he already had in to my car's specs. He will call his regional manager tomorrow to try to get an idea when my car will be built since retail orders take priority over dealer orders. I hope I get it before August. What more can I do?

Awesome!

I personally think that black with red stripes is awesome as hell, but your car, your way! Congrats!

If you can do w/o the glass roof and don't mind the higher rate (you mentioned before you get better lease rates on a '12 than an '11), a Black GT500 w/nav and Satin Black stripe shows up on this dealer inventory in Meredith, NH;

http://apps.dealerconnection.com/dea...0/BodyDesc/1/0

http://www.inventory.ford.com/servic...BP8JS4B5142499

I haven't called to verify if they still have it, but that's up to you... At this point in time I can't think if any dealer that wouldn't honor X-plan on the GT500 as I would think most dealers want these 2011's gone.

Good luck.

Thank's for looking. I considered that car before. It's MSRP is $51835, on x-plan, $47539. A 39 month lease with $2000 down would be $553 per month.

I just placed an order on a 2012 GT500, same car with NAV, except with glass roof. MSRP is $53830, x-plan $49264. A 39 month lease with $2000 down would be $541 per month. So I get one model year newer, with glass roof and garage door opener, for $12 less per month. That will buy me 3 gallons of gas!

Of course I'll have to wait. It was taken off material hold today and is listed as unscheduled/clean. It's a priority 1, and Ford's zone rep says it will be built in May, delivered in June. Hopefully I'll have a Vin in a week or so!

I hate to make you sad, but it's for the best. It will be 3 months from time you ordered to delivery.

After hanging around these forums for a few years, I understand 12 weeks from order to delivery is more the norm than the exception. The dealer had this car ordered back in March. I bought it last week, and he changed it to a retail order. Since the vin wasn't assigned he was able to order the car to my specs. So does this change to "retail sale" lose it's spot in the production line? If it doesn't lose it's spot, I would expect the car to be delivered in late June. If it does, than I take delivery in late July.

Oh I see good luck and congrats and welcome to the club.
