GT500 mileage as DD 7 min from work
GT500 mileage as DD 7 min from work
Hey Guys, here is a bit of info about fuel economy (or fuel expense
) on my GT500
After now a couple weeks with my 2011 GT500, I notice mileage is not great for daily drive at work (7 minutes drive two times a day).
Of course doing only a few minutes a day, I want to hear the exaust sound !! So shifting is quite often over 3500-4000 RPM.
I am doing approx 250km (approx 155 miles) with a full tank of gas !!
I guess I did not buy that car for fuel economy...
P.S. I did a long run trip last weekend, and manage to easily get over 255 miles with one full tank

Definitely not a good thing to run so many short heat cycles, never gets fully up to operating temps throughout and can make for more condensation in the crankcase.
At the very least, shorter oil change intervals should be used.

Ha! 13-14... I'm averaging (per the car's computer) 12.1MPG! I've got just 480 miles on her at this point, including the 90 mile drive back from Jeff, a round trip to Westchester at about 50mi each way and the Jones Beach car show on July 4th at 20mi each way. That's about 50% of my driving on highway. But then again, I run 4th gear alot on the highway! $3.31 for a gallon of 93 octane. Good thing mine's a weekend car!
I know we could all get high teens and maybe even low 20's if we tried, but did any of us buy a Shelby for that?

Yup, have had mine since last Wednesday, put on just under 700km so far and have gone through about 2 tanks so far. She is thirsty
. New Engines use more gas at first but get better over time. Depending on your foot of course.

That said, your right - A GT500 is most definetly the anti-prius
Best I've ever had on the highway is around 21 mpg, fortunately the car pulls well when left in 6th gear. Last fall I went to visit some relatives in NW Pennsylvania and even in the mountains I did very little downshifting - such is the tractable nature of the engine - big hill, no problem, just mash the gas and enjoy the whine of the S/C.

Just got a question for the 2011 GT500 owners, do the SVT performance pack cars have the same listed MPG ratings as the non- SVT performance pack cars? I'm guessing the gearing could cause a bit of a change in MPGs.
