GRAPHICS FOR GT500 IN 2010
Don't put so much weight on this picture. Its simply a Photoshop by the ad agency to show the idea. You realize that all the images on car companies websites now are mostly highly rendered 3D images ( its a lot cheaper than paying photographers and shipping cars around to photoshoot locations. ) So each Mustang trim level ( V6 > GT500 ) has been rendered in every available color. This is a combo of a stripe-less silver GT500 and a striped GT500- notice the off center stripe is exactly the size of the regular double stripe, all they did was erase the driver's side. ( The wheels are wrong too, since you only get the machined on the convertible. )
As for the idea of custom graphics, its great! The multi-billion dollar aftermarket industry has not been lost on Ford, and they'd rightly like to join in. Remember too their head of marketing Jim Farley came from Toyota and a successful Scion brand launch, where they made a lot of money and good PR with the "youth crowd" doing the same thing.

But what are you talking about with the stripe!?!?
It's no where near the 2010 stripe or position in that rendering. Remember it's a "Graphic" not a "stripe" as to what we commonly think of. Different proposed thickness and offset, plus it doesn't carry onto the roof. And since we're not putting so much weight on this picture, the latest photo out does the current one in terms of it's rim precession. (as the build site has a darker "machined" looking set.) So where does that leave us? Same place we started. It's a different, off set, wider, graphic. With the normal setup for rims.
