Burnt Plastic Smell

Does it ever go away? Every time I beat the car a bit, it has a burning plastic smell to it that is strong in my garage. I always coast the last mile or so, I don't just beat it and park it.

2012 - 700 miles on it.

20 day plate just expired yesterday, so I'm on a 12k/yr pace

How long before the smell is less noticeable?

I haven't been smelling in since the weather has cooled off. Don't know if it because of that or if its just going away.

Hmmm, didn't think to search - looks like it's a common issue - I was hoping it was. You described the smell better than I - it's more of a melting plastic smell - like in a plastic injection molding facility. Someone noted a darker "oil" smell sometimes too - that one bothers me more but I've only smelled that twice.

if you smell a delightful crispy smell after the race, it's not your tailpipe burning.....it's a little bit of shaaaaaaaake...and BAKE!!!!!!!!

Must not be the cooler temps. 2400 miles now, in the low 60s today. Got on it pretty hard in 2nd and 3rd a couple of times on the way home, pulled in the garage, went out a few minutes later and the smell is still there.
