I waited 40 years to get a grabber blue mustang. no paint imperfections when I checked it at the dealership. At home it had a 1/8" paint chip in the middle of the front bumper. my son's black mustang got a pint chip on the hood on the drive home.

It seems to me that you could keep turning it down until it's perfect, and then pay for it. By the time things are right, you'll have a better downpayment. In the meantime, talk the dealer into a discount.

If you don't feel like dealing with it, walk away and get a car at a different dealer. Of course, if you buy a car off the lot, you'll never know if that car was damaged as well.

I understand your desire to get a perfect car, and your frustration in what's happened so far, but you have options.

OK, here are the pics of the beast. I wish I had something better than my cellphone! Pictures don't do it justice! Last pic has damage circles in red, but it very hard to see with the low quality of the camera. Enjoy!

Yes, yes, I like the way your thinking! They can place the silver stripes, (custom from ford) on the car with a warranty. We have a place picked out for window tint that uses 3M products, hopefully they will allow us to get the windows done at that location and pay for it. My husband and I are looking at this on many different angles.

Like others are saying I'd take a discount as long as the repairs were completed to my satisfaction. Some GB stripes, extended warranty, and $1k would be nice

Don't take the car. I wouldn't it's damaged goods.a gt is one thing but a Shelby it probably cost you a pretty penny and sounds like you work hard to get get the car of your dreams. Tell them to keep it and get you another one

It would be very hard for me not to take that car. I'd let them fix it, thrown in some perks such as tint, stripes, warranty, etc. and be happy.

The dealer is not obligated to tell buyers of shipping or lot damage repairs. They could just sell car for full price to next buyer if OP demands any discounts or freebies.

I say don't have anxiety over it and worry so much. This kind of stuff happens to everyone at one point in their lives. You and your husband will be ok and so will the car. Enjoy it when you get it.

As far as being mad because they didnt call you when it arrived, I say get over it. I wouldn't have called either.

Well, today was the day to inspect our newly delivered 2014 Shelby GT500. It has not been the greatest of experiences. I am NOT a happy Shelby owner....as of yet!

First of all, I had to listen to my husband rant all night because the dealership didn't call my husband to let us know that the truck arrived. He wanted to be there when the car came off the truck. They called when we were both at work on second shift. I had a friend who was getting service work on his Explorer yesterday and SEEN the truck pull up at noon. The dealership e-mail me at 2:18pm and called my husband at 2:39pm....just after he punched into work. Almost seemed deliberate......... We both work second shift and start work at 2:30. My husband was about to blow his top!

Next, when we got to the dealership at 8 am (in which we were NOT happy and running on 2 hrs of sleep) there was another wrench thrown into the mix......the car was DAMAGED in shipping!! Apparently, the salesman "e-mailed" me about this last night at 4pm, in which I am STILL waiting for the e-mail to arrive. (I have a smart phone and get e-mails on my phone.) MY heart sank.....The salesman told me it was damaged when the car was pulled off the truck at the dealership! I literally was like WTF?!? Now that I think about it, I'm not sure how the delivery driver could but two deep marks in the rear bumper backing it off the truck....the marks are about 4 inched on each side of the license plate in the rear. I'm thinking the damage occurred either when it was placed in the rail car OR maybe if the car was backed onto the truck and with the clutch being so "touchy" he back into the trailer?? Needless to say, our car is still at the dealership and will be STAYING there until May 17th for repairs..

We ALSO found NUMEROUS scratches on the car. There is two dings in the spoiler on each side on the top of it. Almost where something was over the car during shipment? We also found a paint chip/ding in the driver side rocker panel from someone getting in of out of it!!

The only thing that is making me still yearning for the car is when we started it up and heard the rumble of the exhaust!

We proceeded to take the car to the gas station because it was 22 miles till empty. As we were at the gas station we were filling up the Shelby with our salesman jaw jacking, the gas nozzle do not shut off, spewing gas ALL OVER the side of our car!

I feel as though this car is a lemon and doesn't "feel right" but I don't know how to feel! I think I am MOST upset that the dealership didn't follow through and CALL us when the truck arrived like they said they would! However, I think my husband would the hung the deliver driver if he seen him back the car into the truck trailer!

So fellow Mustang lovers....what would you do? I want your opinions!! I'm thinking about "asking" for the dealership to take some money off the final sales price for all the hassle and because the car will NOT be considered original...

This makes us BOTH sick! We have not smiled all day..... It's like our Shelby experience has been ruined. I feel as though car salesmen should be in politics because they all lie!

Again, tell what you would do?
Its a $50,000 car. Its not a vintage ferrari

But this is a mustang site. Not a Ferrari site. $50k is a lot for mustang owners so they want a perfect mustang. $50k is a 30k mile service on a Ferrari.

Its a $60, 000 car. Just as worthy as your $60, 000 vintage Ferrari.

It doesn't matter if its a $500.00 car or a $500,000.00 car, if there's a poop on the front seat, I ain't buying either.

No, but its not something to be traumatized by because the salesman called 2 hours later than the truck arrived.

That situation really sucks about the damage, A repaint typically won't match texture or looks of a original paint.
When I bought my Boss it had a chip on drivers door edge. It really bummed me out.
I didn't want them to fix it because it would have been more work that I didn't have faith in dealer.
Even worse, I drove car home and stopped at my dad's house and the VERY FIRST thing he sees is the Chip on door edge... :-(

I can't even see the damage in those pics and since you won't even be signing the paperwork for almost a month, how is the dealer supposed to be obligated to meet your every demand while also sitting on a 60k car? I'm amazed they were willing to do even that for you. I'd be happy with getting the car fully repaired. That's not enough damage to do a darn thing to your resale value, CarFax data or anything. Get over it and enjoy your car!
