I believe I have seen you in the area before. my step-son loves the color of your car. There is also a white Shelby with SVTPP stripes running around in Lithia / FishHawk area.

I'd like to be the one naysayer, but it's not a "no brainer." It's what you want, what your priorities are.
My choice was getting exactly what I wanted in a '13 GT Convertible or getting a '11 or '12 GT500 Coupe in whatever color I could find or maybe a 2010 GT500 Convertible.
In the end I didn't want a stripe delete black GT500 coupe -- I wanted a convertible in a color that excited me more, like Grabber Blue or Race Red. Unfortunately I couldn't find a GT500 convertible, and honestly, the rear end and new headlights are what finally made me desire a Mustang. So I spent about similar money and got me a GT Convertible, in exactly the color I wanted. Does it have a ton of power? Yes. Enough to get me into big trouble? Yes.
GT500 is all the same, just more horsepower, but seeing that I'm not out to race anyone, I'm happy and content with my choice.
I love your GT500, and I'm glad it was what you felt you needed. For me I wanted a V8, Rear Drive Convertible with a lot of power, and a manual transmission. A GT500 or a GT would have done that, but the improved rear of the '13 won me over, as well as the *new* factor. Add all that and the fact that a convertible adds a premium, I wasn't going to find a GT500 vert for around 50k, but I could load up a GT Convertible for 45k.

I have wanted a GT500 for many many years but just couldn't swing it with other things that were going on in my life. I am now able to but just can't justify the money on a new 2013. Bought a 2013 GT thinking it would satisfy me but still kept finding myself looking at the GT500.

You'll never regret the trade. I had a 2007 GT vert that I traded for the Shelby. My daughter has a 2010 Red V6 and my sons has 2011 Black GT and while both are very nice neither can compare in terms of driving experience. My only advice is watch for the cops. WOT runs are intoxicating.

If your happy and satisfied with your GT then more power to you. I personally was not content with it. love the rear on the 2013 for sure but love the raw power of the Shelby more.

I've had a Mustang GT or LX5.0 since I was 18 years old. Most have had varying levels of performance mods. As soon as the GT500 came out I wanted to upgrade to one but just couldn't. Even after ordering the 2013 GT EXACTLY as I wanted I still wanted a GT500. This one came along and my wife supported me as she says I always look at the GT500 and always talk myself into a GT instead even though i can easily afford the Shelby. She supported me getting what I really wanted.

If I could have gotten a GT500 at sticker, the story might have been different, as I'm paying nearly 850/mo on this car anyway to get it paid off quickly.
The funny thing is, when I talked to my fiancee about maybe trading in our '13 GT for a '13 GT500 (would have to be identical to my car now - Grabber Blue/White Stripes) she wasn't opposed to the idea, as we will have made significant headway into paying off our '13.

Currently a Corvette Owner!
I love my GT, and for the money, there is no better budget perfomance car. The GT looks great, handles great, is super fast, and has a great interior. However, I do have a few nits to pic with the above comments...
Shelby gets:
* unique interior, seats, & steering wheel (with Alcantara)
* SVT tuned suspension (unique springs & dampers)
* unique hood with air extractor
* unique staggered wheels (with larger tires)
* forged engine internals
* 550 factory HP WARRANTIED!
* plus more!
Can you tell I'm in love with this car, or what?!

suspension.. I would have changed (lowered my GT in the first month)
hood... exterior thing, prolly would change for SS hood, thinking about doing it on my GT..
interior... material difference.
different engine, well... yeah
different tranmission, well.. yeah
I get it ya'll. I would prefer a GT500 like everyone else too. I would just have a hard time parting with my '13 GT for a non- 13 GT500. Like I said the stuff they did to the 13's actually made me want a Mustang for the first time in my life. Prior to the '13 Mustang upgrades for 2013, I really hadn't considered one all that much, and had my eyes on either a '12 Camaro SS Vert, a Corvette Vert or an older M3 Vert.
I don't live and breath Ford/Mustang like some of you. I'm starting to though. :-)
Prior Cars have been: '66 Chevy Impala, '88 Chevy Camaro, '87 Pontiac Trans Am, '88 Pontiac Trans Am, '98 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Daytona 500 PaceCar (don't discount this one, went low 12's) '05 Pontiac GTO (also went low 12's, but did it on street tires). Never has a Ford been in the equation. I've been converted.

The local dealer I ordered my 13' gt from now has a 09 gt500 white with blue stripes, 39k with 10k miles; would have been tempting at around 34-35k.
