Shenanigans!...pics and performance specs or it isn't true!
I will say this. the 2003 mach was the NA version of the SVT niche motor...so.....seems plausible

If Ford nailed the styling & HP on a new Mach1, I would certainly have to buy one!
I've always been a fan of the Mach1, and I thought Ford did a wonderful job on the last one!
Sad that Ford didn't bring it back for 05-09. Perfect body style for that car. I could of lived with a SC 4.6L or a watered down GT500 5.4L, say 400-500hp?

How about another Bullitt SE? While I love the Boss 302's mechanicals, the styling is a bit garish for my tastes -- not bad, mind you, just a bit too loud.
So, what's a toned down speed demon to do? Well, what about stuffing most/all of the Boss mechanical bits into an understated package? Offer it in the usual Highland Green, or maybe even black too as has been done and the usual Bullitt style wheels (the one Mustang that should offer these waaaaaaay overused wheels). Probably just use the standard GT front and rear caps and, of course, no other surface baubles for that pared down look.
Thoughts?

No IRS for you!I do see a spot for the Mach to fill in as a SE street bruiser. As much as I like the Boss, I don't see me spinning the engine to 7500 rpms regularly. But I would love to have a car with all the new tech and options of the 2011+ models and a little something extra. Especially if it made itself known below ...say...4000 rpm in the form of a torque beast. As cool as the Shelby is I'm not loving it. Give me a Mach!
Rhumb, you sir are NEVER happy!
No IRS for you!
No IRS for you!
I've long griped that Ford had taken a "good enough" attitude towards the Mustang and ended up with a Mustang that was pretty good. But wow, now look at them! I don't know if its the pressure from the Camaro and Challenger, even the 370Z and Genesis Coupe, or just a general change in corporate culture, but look at the what's been going on with the Stang in the past two years. They've left "good enough" wallowing in the dust as they race towards overall excellence.
Not that I still don't have a few gripes on my quickly diminishing list -- fussy exterior restyle and, ummmmm, oh yeah, no IRS of course -- but wow, gotta give credit where credit is due. Hopefully they can and will maintain this enlightened pace through the next Stang redesign and into the future. That the Boss 302, so close on the heals of the '10 refresh and 3.7/5.0 intros, was such an extensive and well done package rather than some lame stripe and spoiler package we might have expected a few years ago gives good cause that they won't be slacking off anytime soon.
While I prefer the '69-'70 Mach 1s, Arin's photoshop sold me on the '71-'73 look for the 2010+ cars. I love the look of the ram air hood on this bodystyle. Drop a monster torque 6.2 in, along with a few more Mach 1 touches, and we'd be good to go!
