2011 GT500 Differences Documented
While doing a few mods to the car I had the chance to have it up on a lift and able to really look it over well. I decided to document what I could find as differences of the 2011 GT500 to prior models. Some of these changes came about with the 2010 car, but most are new to the 2011.
Hopefully you will enjoy the detail.

Interesting. Thank God they decided to paint the rear axle housing, because a rusted part on a new car is a major turnoff.

Cool pictures and sweet Mustang! I'm going to have the dealer install those axle weights on my car. There is a TSB for axle whine and right at exactly 70 MPH mine whines very loud ...

I believe that Ford got the 2011 Mustangs right. That not only includes the GT500's, but also the new 5.0L coyote motor. My personal preference would be the GT/CS with 6 Speed. I did see a CS at the dealer on Saturday and liked the chrome treatment on the dash, but I didn't like the seat inserts. They were very shiny and didn't look that durable. I am just not one of those that likes chrome and shiny stuff on my cars. I guess it comes with age and not wanting to clean stuff.

True. Yet for some reason I have a December '06 made '07 and I didn't have them. For some reason they were selective. But apparently they came on almost all the verts from what we've discovered.

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I've heard that the rear axle weights were only used on the cars that got the 3.73 gears.
I also remembered another 2011 first. In the rear wheel wells there is now a felt like liner where the older cars just had some spray in stuff. I haven't been in an earlier model, but this car is pretty free of rear tire noise on the highway.
I added a picture to the webpage to show this: http://marblesmotors.com/GT5002011Differences.htm

I notice you mentioned the panel under the car that says remove for oil service... I changed the oil in my car and removed the bolts to the panel and looked around. THe oil drain and filter are not under there, they are further back on the car. I didn't find it necessary to take it off unless maybe oil collects on it when you drain the oil. Anyone else witness this? Just wondering why the message on the pan.
