when should i get a tune-up?
when should i get a tune-up?
I got a used 05 stang at 65k miles and I'm at about 71k now. Wondering when I should get a tune up and how much am I expecting to pay for it. Just trying to stay up with all the things to keep the car heatlthy not sure what the previous owners have done.
Doing it yourself or not?
Not really much to do on a Car with injectors except change the plugs, gap them correctly and change fluids.
Seafoam is good to clean the Injectors.
Clean the Throttle-body.
Wash the engine bay.
Check the serpentine belt for wear.
What esle?

Thanks everyone for the info. I'm considering to do it myself if I'm just changing spark plugs and andb cleaning my fuel injectors. I just got some techron. And yes I have the stock v6
Why would you not clean the carbon out of the throttle body?
You should change the fuel filter too at this point. Easy to do, you will need to jack up the driver side of the car (use jack stands to hold it!) - pull the pins holding the plastic panel on the bottom and the filter is under the driver seat.
Pull the fuel pump fuse under the hood and let the car run and die to relieve the pressure - use the tool if needed to release the filter (you may have green tabs that you push instead to release), unbolt the mount so you can slide the filter out, slide the new one it and button everything up. Put the fuel pump fuse back in, turn the ignition to "on" and let the fuel pump run to pressurize your system and start the car.

A dirty throttle body is a frequent source of problems - several threads about it.
