What the hell is growing on my battery terminal?

It kind of looks like brown mold. Disgusting !!!

Should I be concerned?

looks like a combo of rust and battery acid. Clean it up with baking soda and water. Looks like a mess though so cleaning it may take a while. Btw the article suggest using Vaseline on the terminals, I would recommend a good electric cleaner and some dielectric grease.

Be safe, those batteries carry allot of amps, they can and will melt wires and tools. Although I think the stock battery in the mustang is a bit flimsy as allot of people have had problems with them dying. Sometimes they might be covered under warranty, sometimes not.

Having any start up issues? Dim lights? etc?

happens to every battery. Be careful with the baking soda and water. If any of it get inside the battery it will neutralize the battety and it will be rendered useless. After you clean it spray with battery terminal spray it some sort of grease spray
