Should it switch to synthetic?

I'm coming up on 13k miles. Should I switch to Mobil 1 Full synthetic? I made the switch at 20K on my old Intrepid and it ran flawlessly.

Lots of different viewpoints on when and whether to switch. I've switched cars I've owned to Mobil 1 in as little as 1000 miles and as many as 200,000 miles (the higher miles were on cars I bought used). On new cars I usually switch at the first or second oil change, but for me nowadays that is at relatively low mileage since I change my oil once a year regardless of miles and I don't put a lot of miles on my Mustangs. I'll probably switch my '08 at 5000 miles or so, and that will be around the 2 year mark. I switched my old '89 5.0 to Mobil 1 at 100k miles because that is when I bought it, same with my Bullitt at 31k miles a few years ago.

Short answer, sure, go ahead and change it at 13k miles, the engine should be long broken in on dino or semi-syn oil by then.

i love my royal purple fluids. i have royal purple in everything from power steering to gear fluid.
i have had nothing but the bestest luck possible with royal purple. been using since 5,000 miles now have 54,000 miles on my 2005 gt. even though i use synthetic i still change my oil every 3,000miles/3months.

Well, its your money, but that is absolutely a waste of money and oil, you've got much more life left in the oil than just 3000 miles/3 months worth. But hey, whatever makes you sleep better at night.

nothing wrong with taking extra care, plus it makes me happy and i sleep better at night like you said.

i dont think its insane, im just taking "extra" care of my investment by going above and beyond.

nothing wrong with that, i bet theres stuff you do to your car thats over the top but you do it to take extra care of your baby.

thats all im doing, just taking extra care of my baby.
