Shifting Very Notchy Tsb Soon???

How many of you feel like the shifting is really notchy and sometimes imposible to get into gear when shifting at higher rpms ?? I brought my car in and they said it was normal. I then asked them if I could compair the shifting with a new car. With the car off I could feel the difference. They said they didn't notice. I then said they were on crack. Is dealership staff trained to BS the customer to save labor?? I know there isn't a recall or TSB. BUT THERE SHOULD BE ONE. THIS IS CrAzY !!!

They are trained to make money i.e. more labor = more money.

Shouldn't be hard to shift though, mine's smooth as glass and I have never missed a shift.

Smooth shifter here...although I can't say the same for the clutch engagement - that seems to have bit of slop.

problem getting worse

It seems that the problem is getting worse everyday. i'm taking it back in and having the service manager compair the shifting on my car with a new one. I developed a new problem. When downshifting to first around 8-10 mph , there is a small grind before engaging. looks like I might have to call Detroit to get my problem solved

Hmm, sometimes I feel a little grind. But it's always my fault: either I didn't FULLY depress the clutch pedal or I didn't rev-match, and my synchros needed some time to catch up, causing gears turning at different speeds to touch (that's what I imagine is happening.. is that even possible?).

gears are always engaged - its the synchros and various selectors that are actually grinding.

Probably has something out of alignment or it could just be a tiny defect in one part causing a problem. I would think they would just put an entirely new shifter unit in. The 07's and up are pretty snickity-snick and clean shifting for a stock unit if all is well.

Having them compare one should make it quite obvious if there is an issue. They changed the shifter a little bit for 07, so there may be a TSB somewhere in the mix??

the reason that happens is because it is supposed to! our mustangs have a first gear lockout feature to prevent accidentally shifting into 1st at high speeds and blowing the engine. you must be fully stopped, or going less than 3-5mph to shift into 1st gear. it is a safety feature, and by forcing it, you are destroying the transmission!!!
