Rusting Seat Bracket

Hi everyone,

Just wanted some opinions on preventing rust from forming on my driver's side seat bracket. I drive my mustang through the winter and salt from my boots is causing the paint to flake off and subsequently some surface rust. Anyone else with this problem?

Thanks
Danny

Sand and rattle can it, then wrap some painters tape on it for winter.

Talking

yes ,sand and rattle can paint it,but remove the seat first,,,can you give us a picture .and see about getting some bigger floor mates,,might try spraying alittle WD40 on it also in the winter time,to keep the salt / snow /mud off the seat bracket.

If it's just surface rust I would suggest using a small wire brush to scrape off the rust, then use some rust converter.

That's what I did and it turned it a nice black that matched the factory paint... didn't have to take my seat out either as I just brushed it on

What "rust converter" worked for you?

I don't remember the brand, I don't have it here at work, but it was in a bottle that I bought at Autozone.

They have aerosol rust converter too, but I got the paint-on kind since I didn't want to spray in my car.
