Rubing noise/ Grinding in 4th and 5th gear??

Rubing noise/ Grinding in 4th and 5th gear??

Hello everyone, this will be my fist post on the site. i have owned my 05 mustang gt for about a month now it have 43000 miles. It lookes and runs very well. When i get to 4th or 5th gear i hear this grinding/ or rubing noise it sound like its coming from the trans. Its only in 4th or 5th. Shift fine going any speed it only does it cruising not while shifting. any help would be appreciated. thank you!!!

This is a off-the-wall guesstamate, Sounds like the inside of the second gear assembly is loose and riding on the tops of the gears. Grinding on a transmission is very bad news, and your time is limited. Get thee to a junk-yard and swap it out fast. They ain't that hard to swap out, half a day by yourself. Or grab a case of beer and get your buddies to make it happen in about 2 hours.

it doesn't sound much like grinding more like light rubbing. I can't figure out why its just at cruise speeds in 4th and 5th
