Rear Bumper cover Fitememnt Correction.

I have a problem with my rear bumper cover, on the right hand side it won`t stay in place. On a hot day it won`t stay in at all, other days it snaps back in but pops out later. I thought I had this fixed a couple of months ago but its back with a vengeance.

How does the cover attach in this location ? Anybody have a picture with the bumper cover removed ?

There is a plastic piece bolted to the metal behind there that the cover snaps onto.
Its the top part there that the cover slides over and snaps in.

Pull the cover off and unbolt that part. Since this part is non adjustible your going to
have to alter it a touch to make it adjustible. This is easy to do.
Take a drill and bit the same size as the bolt hole and drill the hole down or expand it
down a hair so that when its on the car you can push it up more. This will shorten the distance between the adapter and the metal of the car where the bumper cover slides into and snaps in. Clear as mud I know. Dont make the hole bigger. Just stick the bit into the hole and push down. It will eat some plastic and expand your hole down some. Am I making sense?

That will enable you to move it up a hair before bolting it down. This will decrease the play
which is allowing it to pop off that part.

That way when you snap the cover back on it will hold it.

This is it off the car....

I hope that helps ya.

I am really glad to find this thread, as I've had the exact same problem since my car was new 3 years ago. It was not a big deal and didn't stick out like a sore thumb, but it bugged me anyway. When it would pop out, the line along the right side of the car, where the bumper cover meets the rear quarter panel would open up just a little bit too. Now I know a bit more about how to fix it!

Thanks!

I did "Barricades" modification last night, looks good. We`ll see over next couple of days of driving how it holds up.

Awesome friend! I just discovered this too. My B's only flaw.
Had to go to Body Shop to have key marks removed and when I pointed it out to the guy he said the piece wasn't quite big enough to clip onto. I really didn't understand but looked at close up pics from when I first got the car and sure enough it was there from the factory.
Your fix is easy to understand and do. Thanx!!

So how do you get the bumper cover off to get to that bracket?

There are two philips screws in each back wheel well. Take those out.
Lay down on the ground and scootch under the middle. You can look up and see
three plastic backets that are folded up and molded onto the bumper. There
are christmas tree pushpins holding it.
Pull them out.

Pop your trunk....take out the plastic center cover right there over the lower trunk latch.
It is held in by about 4 push pins and two plastic screws. once you remove that look behind it.

Reach in and feel or stick you head in and look. There are 4 bolts. Remove the nuts and the fasica can be pulled off.

Peel it from the wheel well first on each side.
You will need to disconnect the light harness from inside the trunk on each side.

Then it just pulls straight off the back.

Imsure there is a write up around here somewhere but its really easy.

I think mine is the same way. Like the passenger side top part won't clip in like it sticks out. Is that what you mean by this because if so then I will just do that

Not to necropost, but this is relevant to my issue, and perhaps y'all can help me.

It's not that the top bit is coming off or moving, but the sides are not lining up. One side is horrible.

Are there some pins or such that keep them in place, that perhaps the guys who put the cover on missed? I've not complained about it, but... it's been bothering me, and if anything, hope it can be fixed or something.
