Rattle in dash.
Hi,
I have a 2006 V6 pony pkg, IUP that has just turned 2100 miles. I just noticed tonight a rattle that is somewhere behind the instrument cluster and the center stack. It happens on bump and after I rev the engine a little. Anyone have an idea what may be rattling so that I can fix it.
Thanks,
Tom

I've got a similar sound. Come from behing the dash or in the egine compartment.
Happens sometimes on start up or slow cornering. At first I thought it was a suspension noise but it sounds more like plastic vibrating.
Anyone know how to fix it yourself?

I have a dash rattle, but I only notice it when it is cold outside, and I am using the heater. Noticed it since week one when I picked up the car. Think this could be the same thing?
Mine does also but not all the time, Its hot here (IL) and I`m running the a/c. I think its the vents rattling because of the temp differences between the dash pad and the vents underneath. I can put my hand near the defrost vent and make it stop.
thought I had a dash ratle also , but turns out the aftermarket hood ruds the cowl ever so slightly . Fords tech spent three hours on it before they figured it out . They were cool and didnt charge me , they could have since it was an aftermarket part causing the problem

A bracket just behind the dash center stack which attaches to the exhaust may have a loose bolt causing a slight metal on metal contact when the engine/exhaust moves. Since the two are attached and the engine is on dampening mounts, there may be an ever so slight contact which causes a "tick".
As for Illinois heat issue and air conditioning causing some thermal differential and ticking, it's hot in Wisconsin too! I had this happen yesterday after having the car parked in the sun for 4 hours, I turned on the air only to hear - tick...tick...tick...and then nothing. Once the car interior equalizes the noise seemed to go away.

Just a question on this are you guys hearing a rattle or a creaking sound. My new 06 pony has a creaking noise coming from the steering column area. It only does it when the car is running. Just checking before I take it in. It is driving me crazy.
My '07 V6 Pony has a very annoying rattle/creak in 1st and 3rd gear. After a little trouble shooting I found out it's from the leather shift boot rubbing against itself when it gets all bunched up being in 1st and 3rd. Any other gear and zero rattle/creak noise. I'm gonna use some Zymol to soften the leather so It quits making noise.
Another solution I found to get rid of any interior rattle is to just turn the volume up on the speakers! The shaker system muffles those annoying rattles quite nicely!
