Power Train warranty?
I can't recall... do our mustangs (2005-2007) come with a factory power-train warranty (i.e., 5/60), or just with the factory 3/36 bumper-to-bumper warranty?

answered my own question... knowing this may have factored into my buying decision last fall (love my '06... but an additional 24mo/24K miles would have been nice)...

Effective July 14, 2006 the powertrain limited warranty for 2007 Ford and Mercury vehicles will be five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. That's an additional two years or 24,000 miles of coverage for such components as the engine and transmission beyond each vehicle's three-year or 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty.
For Lincoln, the powertrain coverage is now extended to six years or 70,000 miles - two years or 20,000 miles beyond the basic four-year or 50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.
For all three brands, there are no deductibles for repairs, and the warranties are fully transferable to future owners at no cost. he new Ford warranty programs are retroactive to the beginning of the 2007 model year, so customers who already have purchased a 2007 Ford, Lincoln or Mercury will automatically receive the added protection.

I just received a new Warranty Guide from Ford with the extended time periods in it. This is a replacement for the one that came with the car, delivered 28 Feb 07. It was accompanied by a letter from Ford.
It appears Ford is sending the repalcement guide to owners who purchased vehicles with the old guides already in the cars from the factory.
It is not very thick and I would suggest everyone read through it when you receive it. This guide also specifies what is covered under the emissions warranty for 8 years or 80,000 miles (non-california -they have their own). It is very specific and lists all the parts. May be a money saver in the future, if a problem comes up after the basic warranty has expired.

Hey Doc, you would have gotten a Ford Extended Service Plan, as Ford was adding a 5/60K Powertrain ESP on all 2006 models (they couldn't do a true warranty since the model year was already in production). All you have to do, is call your dealer, to make sure they have a copy of the ESP contract with your car's information on it.
