The stereo is the factory Shaker 500. Haven't needed anything more than that. It has worked fine. She is garaged at night and unlocked.

That's odd Jon, our set ups aren't that much different although I have had different electrical things on the car (satellite radio, nitrous system and bottle heater, and line locks now) but haven't had any problems with my battery for some reason. I wonder why some of us are lucky and haven't had to change the battery and others were unlucky when it came to batteries? I could see if you had a bunch of electronics running on your car but it seems a mystery. Sorry I can't offer any help.

We just got a 2008 Mountaineer last month. The battery had been replaced by the dealer just 4 weeks before we picked it up with a new Ford OEM part. After 2 weeks of typical driving, it went dead overnight and was clearly shorted internally. I took the free replacement, but installed a Wal-Mart battery of higher capacity and have had no problems since.

On my second battery in my TR (first died after 28 months) and the second battery just went t*ts up in the TB. I keep the TR on a battery tender whenever its not going to be driven for a while and ever since, I've had no issues. Looks like its time to buy another tender for the TB or at least switch them off...

Have the alternators been cleared of any wrongdoing in these battery murders? I can understand parts going out on such popular vehicles (how many hundreds of thousands of S197s?), but still... I must wonder if there is a connecting clew.
