I think it is just a software update - plug the car into the computer and upload some different program or patch. It is related to how forcefully the passenger airbag deploys. But I do believe it is software related.

LOL. I don't think I'll bother with it either. There does not seem to be a problem for even the 5th %ile female if she just wears the darn seatbelt.

It is software related. Plug and play, I was out in 15 minutes. It does not effect your tune.

Same here. Nobody EVER rides in my car with no seatbelt. I might have it done anyway, since it is free and I need to take it in anyway to have a few other things checked on. Plus I get a free carwash every time it is there, so that's a bonus.

Just had it done as well. I watched the tech do it. I think it actually might have been one of the managers. Anyways he brought out the OBDII connection box thing, plugged it in. Started the car a minute later, unplugged the box and that was it.

Thanks for the link!
Only got this after putting in the Vin.
There are no outstanding recalls on your vehicle.

Good to have one of the first built and have no issuies.
Build date Nov 25, 2004!
Even still have the stock battery.
Guess I'm lucky.

As far as I know this Recall only affects Mustangs with Side Air Bags in the seat. This is the reason that all cars are not affected by this recall.

(By the way, I have to get mine done to)

Something to think about that my boss/mentor/better half/smarter companion/wife brought up is kids sitting in the passenger seat. We ALWAYS wear our seatbelts, but you just never know.

Yup Im in for this, dont see why anyone would make a big deal about it. It's not like it's a recall on a piston, or because your roof is going to fly off while driving just some programing. Hell if this is the only thing our cars get recalled for thats proof of their quality. I got a recall for my old Tacoma once that stated they needed to replace my steering joint mechanisim(somthing like that) mean while the dealership kept telling me "but it's supposed to drive like that". I finally found a local Ford dealer that actually takes care of my problems so I don't mind going in, plus I get to drool all over those shelbys

Ha! Just when I thought I could not be happier with the service dept. I called to schedule this and they responded "but sir we already did that for you the other day" I had went in for an oil change. I checked my print out and sure enough it says

"Concern 52* 08C02 RECALL OPEN
CORRECTION REPROGRAMMED RCMPER 08C02"

So there you go simple reporgram no major work needed.

Nope, mines on the list and I don't have side air bags.

Got mine done the past Friday. It took longer for the diagnostic computer thingy to boot up than it took the tech to do the recall.

Has anyone received a notice in the mail yet on this recall? I haven't, and I thought Ford was supposed to start notifying us early this month.

Nope, I have not received my recall letter yet. You don't need it to have it done. If your VIN is on the list, just go to your dealer and get it done. Or not.

Yeah, i'm not really that worried about it. I was just thinking about it and realized I had never gotten a notice. No biggie, I may not even have the update done.
