My cammed 3v ticks under the hood

My Mustang ticks when I pop the hood I dont hear it when the hood is closed but it’s pretty loud when the hood is opened I didn’t know if it was because it was cammed but I don’t think it’s that. it’s not a big cam it might be a chain tensioner I’m not sure just worried it’s a Knock what do yall think it is I have a vid to show it and the engine is cold in the video

welcome to the forum

hard to say from that short clip; but most of the clicking I hear, sounds like normal fuel injector ticking to me

When it comes to 3v ticking noises, it's pretty much normal when it comes to the fuel injectors.... However, once the 3v's reach 100k miles and up, the cam phasers often require replacing due to wearing out...

When the ticking noises become noticeably louder while the is hood closed, it is recommended to have your cam phasers looked over and diagnosed... In the meantime, hope the info provided may be useful...

That sounds like injectors to me too, just louder than normal. But that might just be the the mic on your phone picking it up more than normal. I also don't know what a bad phaser sounds like myself, but I've heard they can get noisy when they're starting to go (I replaced mine before I hit 100k since I needed limiters for the SPR cams)

For reference this is what it sounded like on my cammed 3V when the roller failed and it started grinding the cam away. It's definitely more of a metallic tick compared to the plastic click sound I'm hearing from yours.

When a cam phaser goes bad, it most definitely produces a metallic tick as opposed to a plastic or typewriter tick produced from fuel injectors...
