Angry Knock up front? Troubleshooting help needed.

I am starting to experience a "knock" up front. I think I narrowed it down to my right shock tower. In any case, I took both wheels off, made sure everything was tight again but still got the knock. It sounds like it is getting louder over the past few days.

I have Steeda Springs and FRPP shocks. They are about 8 months old. Never abused, no huge pot holes hit, just one day it started the knock.

Any thoughts on where to begin to troubleshoot?

jack up your car with weight off both wheels and recheck your swaybar endlinks. With load on the tires you might not be able to tell they are loose.

I had a noise that got progressivly worse and it turned out to be that.

I tightened them not even a full turn and the noise stopped.

my guess... endlinks are a little loose.

It could also be the upper strut bearing caps. Mine started knocking a few months after I did my springs and has gotten progressively worse. I too checked the end-links more than once, and that wasn't it for me.

When I did my springs, shortly there-after I also did my longtube headers, and BMR K-member. My alignment was noticeably off, but didn't do anything about it. I'm guessing that with my alignment being as off as it was, it put a little more pressure on the upper strut bearing caps and they failed. So this weekend I'm putting Ford Racing Struts on and new upper strut caps and I should be good to go. Oh, and next weekend....an alignment. Don't want to do this again in a few months

Oh and in case anyone asks, yes, I had these replaced when I first got the car under the TSB for the strut clunking on the 05's.

Sweet. I will try those 2 things. My car was built in July so hopefully it already had the TSB fix by then.

If it ends up being the strut caps, they're cheap. I picked em up for like $24.00 for both of them.

It's possible like sixtysix said athat it's the strut caps.

my right one was squeeking and I replaced it at the same time I checked the bolts, i just made sure everything was tighter when i put it back together...

and yea.. those caps are cheap.

So it was the end links. Tightened them up today. I contacted Steeda too and they mentioned they were coming out with strut caps in December. Nice upgrade for Christmas
