Hood shake/flutter

After a long absence, I need to say a big "howdy, y'all".

I wanted to ask if there is a TSB or anything similar related to hood shake/flutter. I did a search on the forum but I couldn't find a TSB per se. I had to have my hood replaced at one point due to hail damage (I wish my company had covered parking, but that's another story) and I've noticed some slight hood flutter at highway speeds which I don't remember seeing with the original hood. For what it might matter, the dealership where I bought my car did the repair work.

Anyways, I'm going in tomorrow for recall work on the passenger-side front airbag and I wanted to try to get the hood addressed at the same time.

Thanks for any help or advice you can offer.

Some people have adjusted the hood stops up a turn or two and all was fine.

Yeah, adjust the rubber hood bumpers/stops and that's all that can be done. No TSB, warranty issue, etc. Very common problem.

Thanks for the info, folks. I must have incorrectly remembered the existence of a TSB.

Again, thank you for the quick responses.

Problem is that the high pressure air that builds up under the hood (at higher speeds and certain wind angles) and it has nowhere to go...so that's why you get the flutter...its doesn't help that the hood is made of aluminum for weight reasons and aluminum is a bit flimsy. They should have kept the fiberglass/re-enforced plastic for the hood (similar to the 99-04 models).

If adjusting the hood stops doesn't resolve the issue (as it didn't for me) you might end up installing hood pins. That stopped the hood flutter issue on my car

At higher speeds the rubber hood bumpers dont work at all. So I've installed a special rubber seal under the hood. So look at this:

Additionally adjusting the hood-hinge and... it works fine for me.

My hood shudders too, I adjusted those stops and it's better but not gone. Hood pins are out of the question - how retarded would that look on a bullitt

So if I did something like this then how else will air get to my engine, specifically my intake?

No kiddin.....me too. I pulled over the first time I saw it thinking the hood wasn't latched all the way down. I only notice it on the drivers side. I tried adjusting that bump stops on the corners but they pushed the edges of the hood up above the fenders. I had better luck with adjusting the latch down.

Nope not at all, I used a small reamer to elongate the holes in the latch and then adjusted it down. At the same time I raised the two bumper on the corners up about half a turn. It's all nice and level and has helped quite a bit. It's much better than it was before, used to look like the hood was going to come off.

Funny thing about this is that my 2004 F-150 had a similar problem but at the cowl end of the hood opposed to the leading edge. Fords fix was to run a piece of vacuum tubbing inside the hollow seal where the cowl and the hood meet, didn't do a thing to fix the problem. On my 07 Mark LT they use a new style seal that is much heavier and stiffer, doing the same thing as the vacuum hose. But the problem is gone, so I guess it worked.

My hood fluttered at just 70 mph, and at 100 mph it looked like it would raise 3/4" at least just scary. Like the old school look of hood pins and probably was going to do the mod anyway. Shelby billet hood pins problem solved. First class product and beautiful look.

Look at the far right corner of the upper tie bar, right next to the headlight mounting tab. The right one is hidden directly behind the prop rod for the hood in the picture.
