Cool GT/CS Replacement Battery

After four years of summer road trips, many great car shows, fun ralley cruises and winter's shop storage on an Exide tender, the original CalStang battery has finally bitten the dust. For those TMS's who are also Sam's Club members with a need of a new Mustang battery, this may possibly help you out?

Purchased a new (590CCA) code 40R Energizer Battery from our Sam's for 75 dollars and some change. This is a premium replacement unit with a 3 year free battery replacement and a 8 year warranty! We put one of the new Energizers in the big 4X4 over four years ago and it is still (pardon the pun) going very strong. Bunny humor!!

The new unit is about the same size as the original. But is a bit longer with nice new bigger cells (more reserve amps)! Install is pretty painless. You only need to remove the smaller battery retainer clip from the bottom of the tray on the right side to drop it right in. This required because the battery tray has been designed to hold several different sized batteries.

You will have to move the battery cables around just a bit to put them on. As posts are now a little bit farther apart. The original hold down strap and bolt still fits fine too. My only concern is the the original battery blanket no longer fits. But betting you can locate the right size through your Ford dealer? Hope this helps a fellow TMS member out there that's looking for a new replacement battery? "RC"
