Engine missing at idle
I noticed about a month ago, my car started to have an engine miss at idle. Seems like one or two cylinders are having a problem. Thought it might have been a bad tank of gas, but now after 4 tanks from different stations, it just seems to be getting worse. The car accelerates fine and no problems while driving. Just at idle, hot or cold engine. Will be taking it to the dealer soon and just wanted to check with you guys and see what you had to say.
Well she finally died today. Had to have roadside assistance come and pick her up Now just wainting on the dealer to call back with the problem. Hope it's nothing major. Will post what was wrong when I find out.
Skitch sorry to hear that about your stang, they will get her fixed
. As to what was causing your misfire, I have to ask if your car is a 2005. There is a TSB out for engine misfire that deals with the Coil on Plug. For reference the TSB number is 04-16-1

A few hours ago I had a similar problem... I was on the way to the drag strip *viewer not racing* I was going down the highway, cruise control on at around 61 mph, and all of the sudden my CEL came on. At this point I didn't experience any drivability problems but decided to pull on the side of the road. The slower I got the rougher the ride was. When I get on the side of the road it felt like it was about to die and wasn't getting adequate fuel. I had a buddy of mine that's a mechanic to come down to resuce me and to possibly help me out. According to him, whenever he popped the hood and fired it up, he said it sounded like it was MAYBE running on 4 cylinders.. :-( Sooo I just passed a small town so we took the car and limped to the nearest Ford dealer. Since it was Sunday, they were closed so we had to leave it there with the keys in the night drop box. This sucks! The dealer is like an hour away from where I live so I can't really track the progress on it very well. The buddy with me kind of thinks it might have broke a rocker but couldn't really say with the brief time he was with the car... Soooo what are your theories? It's not bad gas because I topped off the car before I left and only put in around 1/4 tank of gas.

There is a tsb on the pump just had mine replaced was missing under power comming back from california up a couple of hills.. Replaced by dealer no charge..
One of your "hills" in California would be considered a "mountain" by many Kansans! haha. Anyway, I thought the TSB had to deal with the hesitation after you stop during a long trip. This was a consistant engine miss, one that was not going away any time soon.
Funny sorry I missed th Kansas thing but yeah this was a miss and they said it was the pump??? Runs fine now but came on all of a sudden and just got worse as I drove it. It actually backfired going into the dealer!!
Haha no prob bud! The official word from the dealer is that it's just a simple valve spring that broke. At first when they rolled it in today they thought they would have to replace the entire head but after more investigation, they just found it to be the spring.
Well thats some good news...
