Car wont start occasionally

Lately Ive been noticing that my car wont start when I turn the key. Not all the time but happening enough to be a pain. When I get in the car and put the key in the radio, dash lights, etc. work but when I turn the key theres nothing, no clicking sound or anything it just wont start. If I take the key out and open the door (so all the radio and lights shut off) and then try it again it will usually start up like normal. Any idea on whats causing this?

I have noticed that sometimes I have to make sure the clutch is pushed in far enough, there is a switch that won't let the car start unless the clutch is in far enough. If you have a manual, make sure you put the clutch all the way to the floor, and see if that helps.

I would check your battery terminals and voltage on your battery. Just a starting point

yes the car is a manual and I too have noticed the clutch thing but Ive had the car since 2005 and this has just been happening recently so I doubt its that but thank you for the suggestion. Im gonna check out the battery and see if its that. Whats the best way to test a battery?

+1, my dads mustang wouldnt start because of the battery one morning and it was a bad morning that day because not only would the mustang not start but the truck had a flat tire that needed to be repaired, but the mustang finally started after charging the battery for a bit and my dads mustang is a manual also.
