The paint was not prepped properly before the stripes were installed. you should be able to hard power wash spray them with them not coming off, i would say warranty by dealer for new stripe.

 

dude thats too bad if you liked the stripe, if the carwash won't man up to damage fee's see what your dealer will do the stripes are warranty too if factory, I am another only wash my own car maybe my fiancee cna help if she takes the ring off but thats all

 

I avoid car washes like the plague...there are many waterless products on the market now that you don't even need them...but if you have to wash her...do it yourself...you could even use the high-pressure spray wand...but do it yourself!

 

I always wash and wax my car. First of all, if you have the time why pay someone to do something that you can easily do and secondly I don't trust car washes or some of the detail outlets. I'm afraid they will scratch my paint! I've cared for my Mustang for about 1 1/2 years now and no paint scratches. Besides there is nothing like bonding with your stang for a day of car care. As a matter of fact, I just finished washing and waxing my car today. Although I have to admit, since I just turned 60 I do get more tired and I have more aches after I'm done than when I was 30. Well I guess that's what ibuprofen is for!

if you want them back on make the car wash fix it, the signs they post doesnt cover them against damaging their car no matter what. There is no way that shouldve happened and its negligence on their part.

 

Im hard pressed to believe that theyve never put swirls into your paint. If that is true then you have found noot only 1 but 3 of the only car washes on the planet that have managed to pull that off and still get a car clean...lol!

 

no way .... they should not come off I would talk to ford about it and see what they have to say. Theres just no way ... there's thousands and thousands of striped cars out there that make it through the wash with out falling off.

id talk to the dealer. i had stripes on my 04gt and they broke up like that in a touchless wash. but it was determined the stripe was defective. and replaced by the dealer. never had any problems with the touchless carwashes.

 

Well, we removed what was left of the passenger side stripe, and also the undamaged drivers side today, and it was kind of obvious that something wasn't done correctly, ie surface prep, decal smoothing. There were numerous large air bubbles under the surface of the undamaged drivers side stripe.

Anyway, we decided to leave the stripes off. I never really cared for them anyway, but it is my wifes car, but she agrees, it looks just fine, maybe even better without them. I did purchase another set of stripes just in case she changes her mind somewhere down the road, as women are prone to do. LOL!

And just as a footnote, we washed both my Mach 1 and my wife's 07 Mustang this afternoon. Air temp was 37, wind chill was 25, but as long as the water ran through the hose, I was hand washing both cars!

I would hope the dealer would cover the restriping if they were the one who gave you the wash tickets. Take the car back to them and inquire. If they value your patronage they'll cover it.

 

see if the dealer will compensate something for the stripes not being put on right even a free oil change or 2 is worth a complaint

 

I think stripes are ealer installed? anyway, I dont like to return stuff, usually just put up with it- but in this case, even I would be talking to the dealer- at a minimum they should show these pics to whoever installed the stripes before it happens again.

regarding car washes, same thing can happen to paint- one chip, hit up close with high pressure can 'inflate' the paint and strip it right off the car- I had a 71 elcamino in highschool, did just that...3/4 of one fender went 'poof'...surely the thing wasnt painted right, but still it happens. my 93 f150 i took thru a touchless a couple years ago and the tailgate sticker blew off- I think touchless might be the worst due to often higher pressure used. I painted the rockers/bumper trim, now louvers on my mustang, and only wash at home or at a 'spray yourself' type of thing- and keep the wand at least a foot away from the car- putting too close can strip paint- we have a pressure washer at work for cleaning up machine parts coming in for rebuilds, and its amazing the stripping power if the nozzle is brought close to the paint- a couple inches away it cuts almost like a sandblaster.
My old neighbor gave me his 65 Galaxie told me he only washed his car with clear water and lots of it, and a cotton towel- he rinsed constantly as washing- towel one hand/rinse hose in the other- and that car had some of the most beautiful paint I'd ever seen- was like glass except for the areas he rubbed thru on fender creases from washing so often over 40 years time...but he was really funny about taking care of his cars- every time he went somewhere, he washed the car off when he got home...cant imagine what his water bill ran...he cleaned the stainless/aluminum with a cotton ball and alcohol, and kept the aluminum waxed- he swore that was the only way to keep aluminum from oxidizing- and other than one trunk spear that is just starting to get that whitish color under the anodizing, the rest of the trim looks like brand new still. I try to take care of it, but now I can see tiny scratches from washing when looking up close- maybe the car cover was dusty or something...he used old bedsheets to cover it, maybe I shoulda done the same...all the washing didnt save the frame from salt, but that paint still looks better than 99% of the cars on the road...when I had the trim off, it was amazing how there was near zero dirt buildup inside the trim- most other cars Ive had were packed- guess thats what happens when a dirty car is allowed to dry before washing the stuff off...

 

Guess it depends on the paint...the 98 Mustang GT I had, I used to hand wash all the time and take it to the car wash once in a while and had alot of swirl marks in the paint, but was also in Dark Green. The SVT Focus I had for 4 years got washed more at the car wash then it did by hand (since I hated the thing and silver never really got dirty) and had very few swirls in it. The 06 Mustang GT has been though the car wash about 6-10 times since I got it last year and the paint is still flawless.

 

As long as I can wash my car before the water/soap freezes to the car, I am good to go.
