Car reset

well i was at a carshow and had the hood open, well it started to drizzle then a light rain and i forgot the hood was open so i closed it, i had my hazards on at the time so i decided to turn on the car to let the battery recharge, well everything went well, later on rain stopped and i opened the hood and turned on the stereo. well it started raining again and the hood was open once again, i went to close it again, well i started the car 3 more times after this and no problems, well when the show was over i went to turn on the car to leave and i hear a buzzing noise and turn the key and the guages did nothing, then a second later it lit up and the guages started moving, i turned off the car and tryed again, same thing, guages did not turn on till atleast 2-3 seconds after i started the car. well after the 4th try the guages started back to normal, lighting up before i started the engine and the buzzing noise was gone. well i noticed everything was reset as if i took off the battery cable and put it back on, it was odd. well then i notice the car is slugish and i decided to pull over on the side of the road and bust out the tuner, it ended up that the tune was gone in the car and i had to program the car again, once i did that car was back to normal.

What i want to know is what happened, was it the rain and just a one time thing, or is it something i should be worried about and take it to my ford dealer for, so far my guages do not do the sweep anymore but still turn on with the car. Was it just the car reseting itself after having moisture in it or is something very wrong. Please help i do not want to take it in but if i have to then i will, i just keep telling myself it was a onetime thing

That happened to me two or three times before I got my battery replaced because it had gone bad. The car would turn on, but the guages wouldn't do anthing and the radio was off and wouldn't turn on. That would last for about 3-4 sec. or so.
