Car Pulls 18% Fuel? Please Help

ok so i have had my car checked out by my friend who has a shop and experience in the performance "department" so to say and my car is running wayyyyyy to rich cause the car to choke on the fuel and make it sound like its missing. after a minute or so it clears up and runs fine.
i have all the basic bolt ons and he ask me what handheldtuner i had and i told him i have the sct x3 tuner. he knows i have all the basic bolt ons as well. He asked me if anyone ever went into my car and "physically" tuned my car, not just using a handheld tuner with a tune from a company(brenspeed) but literally go in and tune my car. He did say however something like the car is pulling 18% percent fuel?? he said something like that with the number 18% and the word fuel. He said im running way rich. Now my question is, if i bring my car in for dyno tuning does this car have enough adjustability fix this problem and get my car running right again? or do you guys think i have a bigger problem?

Id say they can adjust that back out for you via dyno tune, but im not expert. You should move this thread to the performance forum for more thoughts.

How did they measure the air/fuel ratio? Did you run the car on a dyno? It appears that you didn't, so I have no idea how your your friend would know how rich your car is actually running. Does his shop tune S197s with SCT software? Sounds to me like you need to get it on a dyno and get a true air/fuel ratio determined before you do anything else.

what he told me was verbal nothing on paper, so like i said im not sure. i do no for a fact that the car is choking on fuel and then will clear up like nothing every happened. happens every time i go to start my car after letting the car sit for more than 5 minutes. i have never done any dyno testing before on my car but i have all the basic bolt ons and i use the sct x3 with brenspeed tunes. i had even contacted them in the past for a updated tune to see if there was something wrong with it but no luck. this has been happening ever since i put long tube headers on, brenspeed says they dont tune a/f for the headers, they just tune for oxygen sensor location. that is another thing, my sensors are new and i no for a fact that they work fine.

dyno time at a know mustang shop will get you where you want to be

for the meantime, try to contact someone where you got your tune from, and ask about your issue

i get my tunes from brenspeed, and i have been over my issue with them many time and they are speechless.

so i think dyno is the way to go and that should correct it.

just start a new thread in the other forum, but id say everyone on this one has hit it dead on. get a full dyno done and go from there.
