2005-2009 Ford Mustang S-197 Gen 1 Headlights stuck on

I get out of my car this morning and my headlights are on, I go to shut them off and the switch is off. Headlights still on, but parking lights are off and interior lights are off. I never turned them on this morning, then went on by themselves. I turn it on and off and it doesn't shut off. I tried disconnecting the headlight switch from the wiring harness and that didn't work either. So finally I disconnected the battery and that shut it off.

Can't shut the headlights off. This is a weird one.

Headlamps are controlled by the smart junction box, which should turn them off automatically 10 minutes after you have turned the ignition switch off..
if they remain on regardless then you could be having a problem in one of the following:
• Circuitry
• High beam relay
• Headlamp switch
• Multifunction switch
• BEC
• SJB

nothing much you can do but take it to a dealer which will run pinout tests on the SJB to figure out exactly what caused it

check out section 417-01-17 of the workshop manual (Exterior Lighting - Diagnostic and Testing - Pinpoint Test E: The Headlamps Are On Continuously)

good luck!

Yeah I read the same thing in the service manual. Figures it's going to be 5 degrees F out tomorrow and I'm going have to diagnose this in the freaking cold.

Otherwise I'm going to have to bend over for the stealership because my warranty is out.

My Answer All these Years Later for Legacy Thread Readers!

I Would Suspect Water in The SJB and Plugged Up Cowl Vents with Debris & Water getting In! Worth a Look!
