Back in '87. A ride in a '70 442 4 speed convertible. I had a smile on my face for a week! I can still remember that night. I thought I was going to die. I always liked cars but that is when I gained respect for real horsepower.

I forgot my 70 442 with the Rocket 455. Wish it was either a Hurst (I really like the 69 Hurst Olds) or the W30 package. Thanks for reminding me.
A few others of no interest (yes, I can spell Datsun B210).
I knew when you said that I had a hefty set that I wanted to say ask Mike. But he posted. His list is insane.

My Dad was a car customizer in the 50's. My first word was not Ma-Ma or Da-Da,it was Hot Rod!! In 1976 I got a ride in a Original Cobra 427. I had a friend with a sooped up 1967 Mustang 390 that ran 12.50 in the quarter, those were fun rides. In 1976 I almost bought a used 1966 271HP 4 Bbl Mustang GT 4 speed with 60,000 miles on it for $1500.00, but I couldn't afford it. I bought a 60,000 mile+ 1971 Torino GT 351C auto w/Magnum 500's. This car would ran a best of 14.08. I had the very last Mustang built with a carburetor, a 85 Mustang GT 5 speed modded to a 13.99 w/slicks and still got 29 mpg. I am a State Trooper now and for 5 years drove a SSP Mustang Interceptor! My sig has the current stable.......

My Dads big block chevelle that he owned from 1967 to 1977. Just a few years after that I watched Smokey and the Bandit then MADMAX. I was totally hooked on muscle cars after that.
My Dream Car has always been the MADMAX Black V8 Interceptor.

I remember when I was real small riding in my grandfathers classics, but it didnt really start until my uncle bought a '57 Chevy a few years back, btwn that and his racecar, i've gotten the fever. Something about that rumbling, feel it and hear the exhaust (not the speakers) before you see it raw muscle gets me going. I dont have any really good muscle cars, but I've got a 1984 Jeep CJ-7 with a pepped up Inline 6, that's quite the little noise maker...always makes me happy to sit at the light next to a cruddy Prius, and gas it, leaving that hunk of crap in a cloud of exhaust!

Always liked Mustangs. When I was 16, my dad offered to give me the family VW Diesel Rabbit or I could use my own money and buy whatever I wanted. I told Dad that you only get one chance to have a "first car", so I bought my 68 Sunlit Gold Mustang Coupe. Since then, I've had
67 Diamond Blue Mustang coupe "NOT WHT"
67 VW Karmann Ghia
various VW Bugs
32 Ford pickup streetrod "Little Truck" *
84 VW GTI
88 Honda CRX
72 Mustang coupe 351C
66 Emberglo Mustang convertible "Coppertone" *
93 Lincoln Mark VIII
64.5 Prarie Bronze Mustang convertible
88 Mustang GT
01 Mustang Bullitt "0034 Jump Car"
76 Datsun 280Z *
89 Mustang LX racecar *
* still have
plus dozens of uninteresting trucks, sedans, etc. I like just about anything that burns fossil fuels. Of the ones I don't have anymore, I miss the CRX and the Bullitt the most.

Bullitt was a great street car that I could use on the track. I was ready for a dedicated track car, and I wasn't willing to hack up the Bullitt to install rollcage, etc. Sold the Bullitt and bought the 89 LX and a 99 F250 Powerstroke.

I grew up in the Richard Petty domination era so I loved MOPAR cars. Even remember seeing a winged Superbird when I was about 8 years old. My father was primarily a Studebaker man and owned no less than 3 at any given time. He'd drag me out on weekends to "just sit there and watch" or be his tool gopher while he restored them. Funny, though, he also had a 1964 (?) Porsche which is what he taught me to drive with.
My love for 'Stangs was less complex than some of the stories here. When I turned (gulp) 40, I decided I was having a mid-life crisis and set out to buy a souped up hot rod. Was actually going to (gulp, again) buy a Porsche. Came across the Saleen, however, and had to have it. Actually NEVER EVEN sat in a Mustang until then....really! Drove it 1000 miles back to H'ville and was in love with anything with a "running pony" from that day on....

My love of cars i can thank my dad for. He had a 58 vette he drag raced in the late 60's early 70's.My first birthday cake had a drag race scene on it so if it was left up to my old man i was gonna love cars.
My love of Mustangs came from working at Sears auto i have test drove and pulled a few in the garage over the years and they are just great looking and sounding cars.My wife and i bought a 2003 gt in 05 that was my first stang but we traded it last year, granted that was'nt my idea.
I included a couple of pics of my dad drag racing in Oct. 1971.
The pics are not that good but you get the idea.On the back of the car it says "FOLLOW ME" he said he was'nt that popular at the track with that phrase on the back of his car but he could back it up.He ran a balanced and blueprinted 327.
