Just saw an announcement that the Nashville Superspeedway will not have any NASCAR races next year and will be closing.

I am going to run the track in September if anyone is interested in joining me. Check out www.musiccitymustang.org for more info. Click on upcoming events. Scroll down to September 16 and 17. I did this in May and absolutely loved it! The track is open on Friday to all makes and models. There is an all Ford car show on Saturday along with the track. If you are interested in driving the track, you must pre-register. Let me know if you want to join me!

When I was in Nashville last weekend, the news reported that all operations would cease at the superspeedway on 1 October.
Bobby Hamilton had leased the old Fairgrounds Raceway (was a carbon copy of Bristol) to get something going there, but the city council passed a resolution last week that would make it difficult to renovate that track. They have not had NASCAR races there since 1984.
I think one of the problems with the new track in Wilson County was that it was owned by Dover Motorsports, and they built an antiseptic-feeling track like Dover - it never caught on and developed its own personality, and they never got the NASCAR cup racing there.
