IRS seal blowout

well I was looking under the 03 the other day and noticed a nice puddle of gear fluid, so I looked at the pumpkin (to make sure it wasn't broken) and I was missing the bottom bolt for the diff cover.....and the seal was hanging out, so out of curiousity would anyone be willing to lend a helping hand on this? I'm gonna order the parts today but I don't know what the torque specs on the diff cover are, or the order. I will have the friction modifier etc the only thing I haven't gotten from germany is my torque wrench. if anyone has experience with IRS's especially the 03-04 ones please let me know. I could use the help. date to be determined. no I'm not driving it.

Thanks
Phil

Phil,

I am not familiar with them, but I can easily get torque specs and order. If you could take a pic, I am thinking this is just as easy as draining the fluid, removeing the cover, cleaning, then reinstalling with new seal. The worst part is the smelly FM. That stuff STINKS! Do not store it near the house.

Let me know.

IRS is not as easy as a solid axle, the differential cover is actually bolted to the frame of the IRS, it's a little more complicated from what I understand.....I ordered the parts I need today....just have to wait for them to get here....

ok all the parts should be here by wednesday at the latest, anyone wanna come help me out on post, this weekend? I have a MM kit on the way with a billetflow brace. I have to limp my cobra up there slowly. it's gonna suck. I'm sure by now there is no fluid in there.....gonna have to do like 20 or so.....I have friction modifier on the way as well as those MM bushings on the way for the subframe, the pumpkin and the 14 MM bolts and low profile bolts for the back of the IRS (so I can run some wider meats in the future.) if you want to help post or hit me up in an email to phillip.schamp@us.army.mil or call me 617-0125.
