first attempt at tinting windows....not too shabby but not perfect either.
I was gonna do this on the side after I do a couple of family cars first.
I did the cobra today with 20% Gila tint and I did the back side windows pretty well, very few (like maybe 3 small small bubbles (barely seeable upon inspection) minimal bubbles. then I attempted to do the driver side window and while it works it isn't the prettiest, I have a crease cause I couldn't get the tint under the weather stripping the way I wanted to cause it's real tight and I thought I got the window pretty clean but apparently not, I ended up with quite a few bubbles....I think the solution underneath the film was drying so fast cause it was warm out...I'll take pics of it if anyone is interested in cheaper then the going rate for tint jobs....just know nothing is perfect.
but I'm gonna strip it and attempt again next weekend, no garage and no helping hands makes it somewhat difficult. it's pretty dark but not too dark for my tastes, I ran out of tint to do the passenger side but I'll do that next week when I do the driver side again. I figure 20 % isn't too dark for local leo's to get upset at me....I always turn the light on if I get pulled over at night anyway....it's usually a good idea and let's them know you have nothing to hide from them.
anyway, if
anyone wants tinted windows done anytime soon I'll do a whole mustang from someone on this site for 80 bucks, normal rates for a shop to do it is about 150.
I won't be starting it until I am happy with my own results (I'm a perfectionist, so don't worry)
anyway if your interested let me know. if anyone has done it and has some insight as to better ways to do it then the application solution and squeegee, let me know.
I know most people are do it yourselfers, but some people don't like messing with the tint....

my brother in law has a friend that did mine and it was absolutely perfect....I but then again he was in a temp controlled environment with a cool vehicle and once he had it all squeegeed he heat gunned it....if I ever get a garage I'm going to do it this way...
I have to make the cobra to my liking first of course and then I'm moving on to an 06 stang and then the front of an 01 expedition and possibly a 98 gt (if new buyer wants it.)

I did mine Thursday night and the rear window looks like ****! Mainly because I got ****ed off, because I was having difficulties and was also tired as hell, but it's on there and I'm not worried about it right now. When I get some extra cash, I'll take it to a professional.

Just kinda tinkering with it.. ended up keeping it.. we didnt have a squeegee so we used my drivers liscense tint is a little scratched up.. but i'll have it redone professionally later on... biggest thing.. make sure your windows are all the way up before tinting lol one side wasnt completely us so we have a tiny gap at the bottom..

I guess y'all know that the law is 32% on the sides. If ya go darker and get a ticket, please do not do as I have seen others do and whine. It's kinda like ridin' around without your seatbelt on. If they see it and pull you over, accept the ticket without blaming the cop.
If you are interested in buying a tint setup, a friend may still have one for sale.

no I won't biatch about a tint ticket....I don't gripe about tickets if I did do it and deserved it....if I get caught doing 90 in a 60....I expect that ticket.....so you won't hear me complain....I put police in the highest respects

The last I heard about tint laws was 35% on the drivers/passengers doors and 20% on all other windows. Is that still current? Also, last Tuesday, one of these tint nut shops in H'ville wanted to charge me $250 to do my car. I'll continue to look elsewhere, when I get ready for a proffesional tint job.

20% is nice and dark but not so dark it would scare a cop if the lights on the inside were turned on (5%) you can't even see in without a BRIGHT light on the inside....
