I finally got rid of all the EGR, old broken emissions crap and miles of vac lines. I replaced the EGR plate with a 1" black phenolic spacer and reinstalled my old heat shield. I worried that the old EGR cut-out in the Ford intake would cause a problem but I just dropped a gasket over it and bolted it all up.

All of my idle, backfire and carb perking issues are gone. All that remains now is the timing.........
