I didn't think the body was in too bad a shape. Why you selling? Take the Dave Ramsey course? Still got the Stang though, right? kennyg
just housecleaning
I need to finish up my '66 coupe and get it on the road (I want to do the AOD conversion on it), build a workshop and I am really itching to get my '67 vert down here from my Dad's house and get started on it.
Beri, I understand, I've got way too many projects, car and home, and not enough time or money. Trying to settle in on one car project at a time, but when the others are sitting right next to it, it's hard to ignore them too. Maybe someone in the RCMC will take the Ranchero off your hands. Got any friends/coworkers that would be into a '52 ****** station wagon? kennyg
Ken - I just don't see when I will have time or money to work on it - I drove it daily and it was a nice work truck, but when it sits a lot it is another vehicle to keep up with.

Current project:
1968 Mercury Cougar
Pulling in garage Friday afternoon to pull heads. Has a balanced 289 that's pulling the rocker studs out. Getting screw in studs installed.
Picked up an intake and carb from a fellow RCMC'r to install on it and bought a new HEI distributor. And got some really cool '60's valve covers on _bay.
Have all new rear brake parts: wheel cylinders, shoes, hardware, adjusters, and drums, all sitting on shelf waiting installation.
Found some disc brakes from a late '60's Ford/Mercury in one of my neighbors barns and going to see if they will clean up. Considered moving the upper control arms while it's apart.
Have an original quarter panel to replace the right side that's severely damaged/rusted and can repair the left. Floors aren't severe but have to decide on plan of repair.
Just trying to make me a fun little hotrod to run around on these Tennessee roads. kennyg

There is someone who makes a fastback hardtop for a Miata. It looks ok but the execution looks kind of funky. A friend and I have been toying with making a fastback roof for his Miata. The concept we were working on would look similar to the BMW coupe.
KennyG - Go for it! I am ready to cut!
KennyG - Go for it! I am ready to cut!
Once the roof is cut off the Cougar, fastback door glass installed, and windshield opening cut to correct size, there is only one correct place for the roof to be welded on. I have all the glass and mouldings, just have to custom fab/modify a decklid. Want it to look like a Cougar from the back and not a Mustang. I'm sure at first glance people will think '67 Shelby because of the taillights. kennyg
Keeping it Cougar length is the key to making it look right. I have seen a couple that were basically 67 fastbacks that had the cougar quarters grafted on. They looked stubby since they were about 9" shorter than a cougar.
I found out about the length when attempting to install Mustang trunk pans in a Cougar. Some fab will be required, but once the w/s and door openings are aligned and tacked it's just a matter of filling in the space/missing areas. I need a MIG for home, TSC has a Hobart I like for around $600 and I already have an Argon tank. kennyg
