Are Pypes Violator mufflers any good? Trying to figure out what exhaust to get after paint and considering those.

Next on the list after paint.

and maybe these

I've heard that some of the exhaust kits don't fit well, but it would be more expensive to just get the mufflers and x-pipe and then take it somewhere for them to finish it up.

These are the cheapo repros that don't have the rolled edges like the originals...

The stainless ones are rolled I believe. I might get them, it just depends on how much I have to spend on tips after everything else.

1 fender done and working on the other. Then I will pull it in the garage so I can finish up other parts and weld a couple things. Moving along nicely

600$ for header back kit? good grief. just buy the muffler and have some local fab it up. it'd be half that.

One is $532 and the other is $700, then on MU they are $655.

Which of theirs is better? Performance muffler or XL 3 Chamber?

I have their regular performance muffler on mine and I'm happy with it. I switched from 40 series flows with an x-pipe to magnaflows with an h-pipe. Sounds a lot better, no more drone, quieter where it should be, and breaths plenty well for my engine.

Are those systems over the axle as well?

if all those are for a v8 they will need to be heavily modified, you are better off just going to a muffler shop, it will save you alot

Why heavily modded? Just have them cut before the x pipe and run my duals off the header to them or am I missing something?

see the x pipe is balance in weight your kind of creating a weird y pipe, , you would be better off either getting a h pipe that gets welded together, then you will save time in fabing,

if it was me i would just find a used newer model cat back, then get an h or x pipe to modify

something more like this would be easier

CI is high on their prices. I thought about their header, but they want too much. What I will do is just order the header and mufflers and take it to Jeff's Muffler. When I went to Clanton he didn't seem too interested in doing my exhaust for me and Jeff's did the current setup(just a muffler and tailpipe ).

You don't want to get too much exhaust for that six or you won't have enough back pressure. Slow down and get that paint done first.

How about a small cam to go with it?!!! Many years ago we ran a 6 with just a straight pipe and it sounded really cool when turning around underneath the just completed Memorial Parkway overpasses. Where's Jeff's? Hit him up for show sponsorship or a door prize of an exhaust system? Huh huh? kennyg

He is down on south parkway just a little ways past Larrys and before the Super Walmart. If I can get over there I will ask him about sponsorship for our show.

I will get a cam for it, but it would be after all the exhaust stuff is done. I will also do my direct mount 2bbl setup.
