Fuel Filter- 10
1/4 inch fuel hose- maybe like 5-10 dollars.
Rebuild kit- 23
Wasted Gas- too much

Total- 38-43 dollars and wasted gas

So you cleaned the rust out of the bowl, have any problems during the rebuild, replace the spacer plate gaskets, how about the fuel filter, blow out the tank to pump line, clean the gas tank? kennyg

Cleaned the rust, replaced the needle, the choke gasket, main gasket, diaphram, some metal ball things, and the gaskets between log and carb. The fuel filter is still on there. I can't take it off because I don't have a fitting to fit the hole. So the old filter is on and we also have a new filter. I will get some pictures of the carb if I can find my memory card for the camera.

Some of the pictures are blurry because the flash went off.

Well the freaking carb rebuild didn't work.... It died on me twice yesterday and also found out it is squirting gas out between the diaphram and the metal. And all the screws are tight...

Did you test your float? If you replaced both needle AND seat, floats sometimes break or crack and do not float anymore.

What diaphragm are you referring to?

There should be a metal ball or an umbrella at the accelerator pump. If it is squirting gas, that means there is a tear in the diaphragm itself, or something keeping the metal housing from mating to the body. Take that apart again and inspect. Find out where it is squirting gas and disassemble and inspect.

Some carbs are just worn out from 40 plus years of use. Here's the solution. Pony carburetors offers a brand new unit for your Stang for $399.95. May seem like a lot of money, but do you want to keep screwing around with your carb, or do you want it to work right every time and drive around and enjoy your Mustang. Just passing along some info. kennyg

I have used them and their service is great (if expensive). When they ship you back your carb (or a replacement), they guarantee it will work right out of the box.

There is a carb shop up by me near Ardmore, TN.

When I rebuilt the 200 in the 67, I remember a Holley 1V being bought from Mustangs Unlimited. I also seem to remember that it was nowhere near $400.
