Going to look at a 1984 vert tomorrow morning. This is a one owner car that is supposed to be in vg condition and all original (5.0 Automatic, 115,000 miles).
I didnt know that all the 84 automatics were CFI but I guess I can live with that until it craps out. When I do change to carb what oem heads would be best, 1985 maybe? I will be on a tight budget and will have to build it up as cheaply as possible.
I wish list build is as follows:
Edelbrock Intake
Edelbrock 600 carb elec choke
Better heads, 85 maybe
Headman 1 1/2" Longtubes
Blackmagic Elec fan
Flowmasters
Turbine rims
82 style hood

Nah, go with the E7 heads. They are pretty much given away.
The only issue you should think about is that you do not have the roller block/cam/lifters. Not a big deal, but the 84 cam was not the best when it comes to the 5.0 engine.
Cool car if you find it is in good shape.

I agree... I was thinking of comp cams but cant remember the designation. I think it was 168 or something like that. Its has been a really long time since I had a project like this. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope that this car is what the owner claims. I will have $$ in hand just incase.
sounds like a nice car. Ive REALLY gotten into the 4eyes here lately.. i know where a 79 pace car is i really really want.. needs a lot of work but it would be sweet to have... how hard is it to replace floor pans on a fox?
Not any harder than any other Mustang. The biggest issue is the how the seats bolt in. When it comes time to modding these things, the first that should really be done is a set of subframe connectors that also tie into the rear seat mounts. The 82-84 had a tendency to rip them out before it got a little reinforcement. Or, the cheap way is to buy the little plates that are supposed to stiffen up that area. I'm not a fan of them, though.
The foureyes need a little love massage in the brakes and suspension area first. Otherwise, you go throwing power at them, they get very dangerous to drive.

If that one doesn't pan out, I'll sell you this '82 GT for $1000. .040 over 302 need 1 piston, previous owner dropped one while reringing, 4 speed, have the front air dam, hood scoop, has telephone dials on it, 3 piece rear spoiler, dual snorkel air cleaner. Come take a look! kennyg
