Mustangs Across America 45th Anniversary 2009 Drive Announced!

In April of 2009, the Mustang will turn 45 years old and the largest Mustang show ever is being planned in Birmingham, Alabama by the Mustang Club of America. To be held at the famous Barber Motorsports Park from April 16-19th, the three-day event will host as many as 6000 Mustangs for show and open track events.

Adding to the 45th anniversary celebration will be an epic Mustang convoy road-trip from the West that will travel across America’s heartland bringing Mustangs from all over the United States and around the world to attend the big show in Birmingham. Starting in Las Vegas, NV, Mustangs will thunder across America on a five day journey through the scenic backdrops of history, tracing the shadows of Route 66 in the West. The Midwest will include a stop in Mustang, OK and Dallas, TX before rounding up the herd through the deep South in Louisiana and Alabama. Drive participants will enjoy planned gatherings, cruise-ins and other adventures as part of the road trip itinerary

I'm think I am going to this next year. I was thinking this could be something the club to participate in next year.

Well I'm going to the car show down in Birmingham. So are a few more people on another forum. When it rolls around.

 

I thought you were suggesting we all drive to Vegas and back.

Actually, much like the Hot Rod Power Tour, this sounds like something pretty darn cool. I'd love to take two weeks off of work, drive out to Vegas, lose some money for a few days, then motor back with the Mustang crowd.

 

I should have enough vacation time by then. The wife and I want to go back to Vegas. I always wanted to go on the Power Tour, but this looks a little better maybe. I might go, I bet it would be fun.

 

A malicious rumor...that's probably true.

I have also been a part of the Hot Rod Power Tour. If you are
familiar with this event, then you know of the "Long Haul" stickers that
are awarded. So, my question is, will there be any such commemorative
medals given for making the whole run?

You know, a "long haul" sticker would go great with my fuzzy dice. I think I may need to put the Capri to the side for now and make sure the 86 is ready.

 

Actually, it sounds like a good idea for a race (at legal highway speeds of course, wink wink). First one back with a cocktail napkin from Caesar's Palace wins.

 

We did the cruise for the 40th anny. Went up to memphis and came in. It was soo much fun! Met up with some friends from cali who came all the way. That was my first big mustang event. I would love to go down to Louisiana and go in but with gas as high..

Either way Im definately going to the event at barbers. Its gonna be a lot of fun.

 

That is where I'm going. Sounds like it is going to be a great show.
