I'm going to go look at a 351 mustang tom, and i want to make sure it is not the hated 351M, what are some way to tell short of taking the thing apart.

There is about a 1" rib cast onto the block on the taller 351M/400 which runs along side the distributor going from the front of the block extension back to the intake manifold.

M-block engines have the taller intake manifold front mating surface (almost an inch above the distributor mounting hole and front cover housing) and is quite apparent.

what year you looking at .. 69 would be windsor only unless nonstock -- 70 could be windsor or cleveland .. 71 could be all three if someone took out a 429 and put in the boat anchor 351/400 M. . google up an image of all three .. the 351 windsor is just a wider and taller 302 .. the 351C is much smaller than the 351/400M ..the 351M will ( not) be a factory 4 barrell .. .. if it still has the sticker on the valve cover it will tell you ..one could go on forever ..

I would doubt very seriously that someone would put a 351M in a Mustang. Sure, you could put the new aluminum 351C heads on one and make hp, but why bother? They were mostly smog engines from the mid-70's on so not really worth much. Probably $50-$100 at a junkyard.

so is a windsor or a cleveland a better motor, I've heard the cleveland is, and i've heard the Windsor is. My lack o knowledge and experience would lead me to say the Cleveland is a better one to have, but the W will have more options.

Some one enlighten me, i read countless articles and cant fnid one to satisfy me.

One the other hand, some 351C engines were 4 bolt main blocks and very valuable. They were only factory installed from 1970-1974 (in the US). After market parts are quite common (NASCAR Ford engines are still based loosely off of this engine). The aftermarket for 351W is enormous and would prolly be your best find.

Using the new Dart or World Products blocks, 351W based engines can now be bored/stroked up to 454 cubic inches and well over 1000 hp naturally aspirated. Check out Keith Craft Engines for some of his Windsor based crate engines:

go to internet explorer and search for yahoo.com
then you click the link that shows up
next step is you click in the search bar and type "how to get to google"
click search then read all the links that come up.
once that is finished you should go back to yahoo.com
then type in the search bar google.com
and then read the links to decide whether to go to google video, google earth google news, etc.

if you dont know which one you need go back to yahoo.com and research them.

Or, just type in the Address bar of your favorite browser...

google

Then hold the CTRL key down and select the ENTER key. It will take you to http://www.google.com/

You are at the home page and by default you will be searching webpages. Type in something like your name. You would be surprised what webpages pop up. There are several different "legs" of Google you can see at the top left - images, video, products, etc. What is cool is that on some holidays and such, the "Google" word is decorated.

Got a moment, select "About Google", then "Help".

Before long, you will be googling. See how the word has become a verb?

I never tell anyone to use IE.

I've heard that the best combo is a Clevor. Cleveland blocks, with Windsor heads. Heard something about the Cleveland heads dont flow well, but the blocks are more stout. I dunno. Mine's all Windsor. But its holding up nicely.

Is this the car you've been after a while?

The early 351 Cleveland has a small trans pattern like the C-4 trans. The 351 Cleveland Modified has a very large C-6 trans pattern like a Lincoln has with a 460 and a C-6.
