Why the dealer badging?
Why the dealer badging?
I've seen a couple of ebay Bullitts now that the dealer has applied his 'stamp' to the rear end. What the hell? On a car that is made to be free of badging other than the bullitt badge on the trunk, why in the world would a dealer throw his logo on there?
This is something that has bothered me for a long time. I don't see it so much out here in California but when I travel to the midwest and further east I see car after car with the dealer's logo stamped on the back. Is it not enough to have the dealership name around the license plate holder? I think it ruins the look of a car. Often times the dealer applied badge is a different shade of silver than the rest of the badging.
Don't know if it bothers anyone else but it blows me away to see dealers applying their badge on a vehicle with a 'badgeless theme'.

Nice to hear that people have an option with you. It's always bugged me. If I go to Macy's and buy a Ralph Lauren Polo shirt, I understand why the polo logo is on the shirt because they made it. Now if Macy's sewed their own name into the back of the shirt, that would be just wrong and they wouldn't sell.
I just feel it takes away from the look of the car. It's the first thing I noticed on those Bullitts.

i hate this also. every car i have bought has had it on. and i take it off the first day.
why advertise for a dealer? they have money for that, expecially after all the people they rip off every day.
if they are a good dealer they will earn their customers from me talking to people, not from someone reading it on the back of my car.
there is only one dealer i know around omaha that has earned my praise and its a SATURN dealer. most gm and ford dealers around here are crooks!!!

Looks like Carroll could use that tip as well.
Send a memo to ol' Shel to wipe that **it off his face before photo time...
Looks like he's been grazing at the County Buffett again..

With the availability of X-Plan to so many, ALOT of people can get this discount now and get a great deal. And FYI, you mention Saturn, as they are a "Beacon in the night" when it comes do "fair pricing"? They MAKE you pay window sticker (aka, no-haggle-pricing), just so you know!
looks like he has been grazing on coumadin to me, I'm surprised Amy B hasn't thought of making little plastic Shelbys that fit in your pocket and hold pills.

When I heard the Charger Daytona was coming out in TorRed, I called my friend who is a salesman at the Dodge store. I told him I wanted to order one. I made what I thought was a fair offer. He took my offer. I asked him to leave the license bracket off, the dealer sticker off, and the floor mats in their factory baggie. He did. It was a cut and dried deal and I didn't take up much of their time. When I go in for service, they treat me like a king. So many people go into a dealership with a chip on their shoulder. It doesn't have to be hard. Yeah, I know some dealerships make it hard. So shop elsewhere. You WILL find a good dealer who will treat you fairly.
When I bought my Mustang, I shopped online and found the one I wanted. By coincidence, it was local. I called the sales manager, asked him about the car, made my offer, and he accepted it. I went in that night to look at the car in person, and signed an order. I asked them to swap the deck lid for one with no spoiler, they did. I picked it up the next night. Very simple.
The key is making them an offer you can both live with. I've found that if you are reasonable, they will be as well, and will bend over backwards to make you happy. Don't expect the salesman to know a lot about the product, that is a given. Do your research, be upfront with them about what you want to do, and go from there.

Yeah, it's not just the dealers but the wiseguys in the finance department.
While I can definitely understand the margins, trust me - I work my behind off for commissions as well - it doesn't take very many bad deals to sour a reputation.
Case in point? I personally know a few attorneys and I'd have little problem vouchsafing their honor any day of the week - but how's that quote go? 99% of lawyers give the rest a bad name?
Which is why people like Brian-Five-Oh and 05FordGT are highly sought after - good business ethics are getting more and more difficult to find these days. Get to know the people you do business with - buy locally means more than a sappy cliche.
...and hating someone because they make money for a living is an ideal that emboldened dictators to kill close to a hundred million people in the last century alone....
ok first off, i didnt mean to offend anyone, as i know many on this forum work at dealerships.
i said OMAHA dealers are crooks. and mostly, yes dealers will hand you your own *** on a silver platter any day.
the very few people that pay invoice or actually get a good deal, well they get a good deal. dealerships would not stay in business if everyone got a good deal. period!
in the few car deals i have worked, i have gotten good deals, even at ford and chevy dealers, but it was thanks to my own buying skill and knowledge level. in the car business, being naive will get you screwed. the saturn dealer i worked with was the best by far, and it had nothing to do with the price. we worked a no BS deal and i walked away happy with the car i wanted. that does not happen very often with big dealers around these parts.
once again, no offense to any of you dealer guys out there, as i know good dealers are around.

If the dealer badging is an issue, just ask them to remove it before you take delivery of the car. I've never had a dealer refuse to do it. They know that my word of mouth is much better advertising for them then their sticker.
I believe you because some I have seen are pretty elaborate metal looking badges. On a regular mustang, are the badges on the side of the car glued on or pinned on through holes?
