Possible Bullitt production delays
I'll repost what I said earlier from the other thread...
Bad news for those of you still waiting for a VIN. I just heard from a close friend who works within Ford (not at a dealership) that there is a supplier side issue that is going to really delay Bullitts for the next couple months. Jan & Feb Bullitt production will be very, very minimal until the supplier in question can get back up to speed for Ford.
Worth noting, my contact couldn't say which piece/parts/supplier is to blame, but he said he'd let me know when he finds out.

oh no, it's anything but "cheap" - sounds like ka-ching!!!!! for the dealer(s)!
supposedly there is a black one (what, not DHG?!
) here at one of the stealerships listed in inventory. will check if it is on the sales floor and NOT IF, but how much ADM they slapped on it....

Yeah, my feeling is by the end of the 7,000 production run there'll be something else announced, plus the '09s will be charging down the planks. Those last patient few (which I was not, bought an 08 Alloy GT) will probably get decent deals.....
Well, a production delay doesn't mean ADM! Heck, we delivered our first 08 Bullitt yesterday at MSRP, as promised, even though we knew about the delay. Same is true for the others we have ordered for folks; it'll be MSRP for them, as well.
I'll let you all know what I hear is the culprit, if someone else doesn't get wind of it before me.

But there are probably a lot of dealers on the fence right now as far as ADMs go, they're the ones who don't know the product in the market as well and have probably been testing the waters on pricing. A delay will probably give them reason for and ADM on the cars that have already been built.
Yes, this could really help drive the price down and the market could be flooded with Bullitts at a pretty good price. If the delay is long enough, people will cancel their orders and move on to something else. Some people win and some lose................
I was on the fence about a Bullitt originally. I would want to keep it stock to maintain its value but I'm a modder at heart. It would be fun to upgrade the GT over time and not feel guilty about devaluing a someday classic.
I'm one of those that may move on. I was just about to pick up a GT but news of the Bullitt came out and I ordered one (my order status is Unscheduled/Clean currently). If there is truly a delay beyond April, I will just go get a GT and call it good. With the savings involved it is very tempting.

I looked at #45 yesterday at a very small dealership. No mark up, sticker price on it is $31,075. They also have a left over 2007 Shelby GT that stickered at $43,xxx. They have it marked down to $33,900. I've got a few pics if anyone wants to see them.
wish I coulda got that kinda markdown on my plain old 08 GT.
I know we are not sure what the hold up may be, but hopefully this is good news for all. My dealer e-mailed me today and let me know my car was built this week and is sitting on the ramp awaiting a railcar. Hopefully the backorder issue is settled soon and production begins soon for everyone else. I hate to hear that some of you may move to another option, this car rocks for the price (especially x-plan or under MSRP). Let's not forget the word on the street is its outperforming the Shelby GT
