Popular Mechanics Bullitt Video
I'm not sure if this has been posted before:

The interesting tidbit from it is that the tune in the Bullitt gets the 315HP on regular but it senses if you put premium in it and ups the HP (they didn't say how much though). It seems this is going to be a standard tune across all of Ford's products as well.

I like the idea, but the video shows the car pushing just like the stock S197s. I also noticed the massive nose dive while breaking. Not to say it isn't an improvement over a non-Bullitt, but a set of Steeda Springs, Hawks HPS pads, 3.73 rear gears, and a C&L intake w/tune can walk on this thing.
If I was to purchase a Bullitt (too young and not in love with Green) I would have to make changes that would devalue the car for the sake of performance.
I'm glad Ford did make the car, but it's simply a Bullitt and not a Bullet!

I don't consider normal wear stuff like suspension, brakes, etc. as items that would hurt the value. If you wanted to drop it a little bit and such, I don't think it would hurt the value anyway. I just wouldn't make major changes that would be very hard to return to stock someday.

- To anyone buying Bullitt, fix the **** suspension before you crash it.
Plus it just looks way too much like a plain V6 Stang painted green to me - all of which begs the question: why bother?
Not saying the upgrades aren't nice, or interesting, or worthwhile...I'm just not sure if the whole package surpasses the sum of the parts in this car.

The answer to that question will probably be dependant on the person answering. For example, you, looking from a pure value perspective, sees that it might be possible to replicate the essense on the package in the aftermarket. Others, like me, see things like more supportive seats and a much better steering wheel as things that might be hard to replicate without a lot of work. Overall the car has a modest but noticeble performance increase in all areas while using some unique styling features to distinguish it. I happen to also like dark greens, so DHG is a nice bonus as well. The engine turned dash is pretty slick IMO and is another thing I would not want to replicate myself. For the supposed $3300 it is going for, I think that is a pretty good deal.
While I agree that the part upgrades represent a good value in and of themselves, my personal feeling is that the exterior treatment is missing some of the core requisite ingredients that made the 1968 GT390 so visually appealing. For me, the car is TOO close to the looks of a plain V6, a model I find not the least bit attractive (no offense to V6 owners).
I'm not arguing with you here. In point of fact, I agree. But I think its greatest appeal will be to serious Bullitt fans, or those that might otherwise appreciate the understated presentation (though I'm a bit fuzzy as to who constitutes that demographic group, because whoever they are, they will have to like DHG or Black).
