no, the chassis for all 2007 was beefed up...hence the weight increase on the GT from 2006 to 2007.

Knight is right on this.

If the upcoming Bullitt were to reach the approximate 375hp mark with the 4.6 3 valve engine, the GT500 would have some serious competition from its own stable.
Sorry 310-312 HP is what it's going to be.

Maybe they were talking about the prototype 4.6L 4v that was rumored to power the Bullitt. Remember this pic from a few years ago.

I really can't see the Bullitt getting the 5.4 in any form for one reason. The Shelby GT. Not the GT500, the "regular" Shelby. Unless Ford detuned the crap out of the 5.4, it won't be in the Bullitt. And detuning the crap out of it would be a waste of money.

However, if the Shelby GT were to get an N/A version of the 5.4, I could see the Bullitt getting the 4V 4.6

They had a Ford GT block on there for 3500.00 , not to bad I suppose. I'dike to use that block with a set of 3v heads - the stock heads can flow enough air to feed just a bit under 500.00 , a nice ported set would take care of that, and if you can get 490 hp out of a 2v 5.0, then a 3v 5.4 shouldn't have any problem - of course this would be on the ragged edge of streetability, if the aluminum 5.4 block adds a negligable amount of weight (say 20 or 30 pounds) and the engine could put down enough power to wipe the smile off of some LSx powered buffoon's face it would be sweet indeed!

Whaaaaaaaat ???

I also hoped the Bullitt would come with a N/A 5.4 until I realized the weight penalty that would come with it. Just not worth it.

This is YOUR OPINION ONLY ... I would love to have ANY 5.4 instead of that funky little 4.6 (with NO FACTORY FORGED BOTTOM-END) and I could care less about any weight issues. SOME FORM OF 5.4 SHOULD BE IN THERE ... It seems lots of folks agree with me.

If the upcoming Bullitt were to reach the approximate 375hp mark with the 4.6 3 valve engine, the GT500 would have some serious competition from its own stable.[/quote]

SO WHAT ... WHO CARES ABOUT SHELBY ... ???

If I want a Shelby I'll go buy one ... You think I'll care about the so-called "weight issues" if I was willing to spend the $50-K for the car in the first place ... ???

DDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG ~ !!!

Y'know its funny, people rave on and on about how awesome the OZ FPV cars are and the 5.4 Boss motors in them even though they are DOHC units with a cast iron block. Yet for the Mustang this is unacceptable

I guess they're saving the 5.4 for some other SE or variant. Hopefully it'll come out before CAFE slams the door on future models.
And since TXBLUOVAL totally missed my point (and Ford's) , I'm sure they'll have an upcoming model that he will be pleased with.................
